Strange, I was under the impression that they were skilled boxers and that's what wins them fights. But really it's the discipline to jog every day that made them great boxers, gotcha.
Here is an article I found on why running in boxing is important - The majority of boxers use running to improve cardiovascular endurance. In boxing, they refer to it as "roadwork." Former heavyweight champion "Smokin'" Joe Frazier says roadwork is the most crucial training boxers do, the foundation that helps them get through 12 rounds of action. Most boxers run early in the morning, leaving the afternoon and even open for training sessions in the gym. Professional boxing trainer and cut man Miyagi “Mack” Kurihara advises his fighters to run three to five times a week. He says a disciplined roadwork routine equates to better results in the gym. The amount of time you spend running depends on your goals. For example, about two months before an upcoming fight, increase your distance. Some fighters add one to two miles every other day to their pre-fight training Distance To build endurance, you need to engage in prolonged cardiovascular activity. A fight is not a sprint; it's more like a short marathon. Jog to get your heart rate up for an extended period of time. Concentrate on the distance of your run and not on the speed, Frazier says. Incorporate about two to three days of long runs into your routine.
endurance training can be done lots of ways using running as a tool. If by endurance you mean slow, long runs then i can see what you mean perhaps. But I train a champion runner to kick box. His leg strength ,speedand power of his kicks is the best in the gym. Running develops leg strength, It is irrefutable:deal I will continue to make my guys run because I have seen how that one change to the routine has seen them all improve over a few months since we started adding it to the list of fitness building tools.
You people don't know shitt about nutrition...for those who are saying roadwork isn't required...really? Tell me how you determine how much roadwork, aerobic activity you do in the first place? Tell me how to determine how many calories you eat? Theses mother****ers couldn't tell you basic facts about nutrition but telling kids to not do roadwork. The point of roadwork isn't to make you punch harder. It's to allow you to eat more calories without starving your body
FFS!!!!! IF A PROFESSIONAL ATHELETE with millions at stake cant get his body to do 3 shiit miles a day what is going on? a young man cant go 3 miles? a professional fighter and get shin splints!!!!!! if you aren't a fat slob you wont get splints....this is amazing no wonder we suck. lack of running endurance is a problem for every lazy fat slob, give up boxing and please take up baking.....this is amazing
Arreola > Muriqi Atlas DKSAB :deal Arreola is maxed out as he is if he wants to compete in Heavyweight...Nothing else can be improved...its impressive that he reached this far , to improve he needs longer legs, longer reach & he needs idiots who DKSAB to get off his balls
You mean sixth a mile...I don't any use of it, he needs to train the way he did...when he felt his best :conf
Solis runs straight to the nearest restaurant....................Take a piece of food, hang it from a stick and Solis will run for it.............
It gets worse. He said that he NOW runs 2.5 miles, which is more than he ever has in his career. He basically never used to run, period.
That's not all that bad for a HW ...who doesn't give a **** and probably downs a case of beer on weekends LOL. Seriously though, I see no problem with limiting his running, as long as he compensates by focusing on anaerobic stuff.
I don't blame him, running ****in sucks. Most boring and unnerving exercise ever, it's also a major waste of time. I'm all for avoiding it and replacing it with a different cardio training
