If he hates running so much, he should consider swimming, elipticals or stairmaster or walking fast for 15k steps or a million other ways to raise your heart rate up. But honestly, no form of exercise will make you lose any significant weight, if you continue to eat like a slob. I am pretty certain that overconsumption of food is his main issue. Sorry Chris but boxing and Tacos don't go together.

Why does Chris need to lose weight :huh

He has an iron chin that matches his style...No point of losing weight unless he is moving to cruiser or 175

Because he loses every time he steps up and because he's plodding all the extra fat around the ring, making him an easy target.

Okay so in order for Chris to beat Heavyweights, he has to come in at lean 175 :huh

The guy beat down enough heavyweights to get a shot at the WBC, I think he is a genius...Big heart, Iron Chin...He is at his best, Teddy Atlas failed to get any fighter where Chris Arreola so much for the advice :patsch

I love those who say running is "useless". Look up "VO2 max". Anything that increases VO2 max helps with your stamina and recovery abilities. Running does (as do other cardio activities) so it is not useless.

You can argue is running is optimal for a boxer, but not whether its completely useless.

Traditional road work is not essential to be a boxer as long as you are doing something else in it's place. Arreola's stamina has usually been OK though he did gas a bit against Stiverne.

Though from personal experience I don't think any other exercise is better for improving your cardiovascular fitness than running/sprints. You can have similar results from swimming, cycling but running for me is the best aerobic exercise you can do.

In Arreola's case his weight is a bigger issue than his stamina. He can lose weight in a number of ways but if he doesn't sort out his diet he could run 10 miles a day and he'd still be obese.

It's shocking that any contender like Arreola should come in at such terrible shape and that some people are happy to over look his obesity. Bowe's career was destroyed by his weight problems but at his worst he wasn't as overweight as Arreola is normally.

Damn that's ****, a professional athlete can only run 2 and a half miles, that's really quite pathetic.

There's a lot of wisdom in those words. I think you are totally right.

    thats decent

anyway , i wouldnt recommend running for him because his significant upper body weight will put pressure on his lower body joints. swimming, elipitcal , cycling and resistance training are better alternatives for him until he changes his body shape

A fat blob like him would benefit more from plyometric training for his legs and swimming for stamina.

    2.5 miles. Lolz. :lol::rofl:patsch I am doing a 10 miler today.

as said many ways to keep stamina, I did nothing but oly lifting 3 times a week and sets of barvell complexes evey day , nothing but weights but the bb complexes had me drenched in sweat always

over a year later went for a run

    7 miles was no problem

    its not relative though

Clearly most of his training does not involve running.

I have done marathons in the past and I can tell you there was plenty of 70yr old men and women doing it

Long distance running just takes dedication and getting out regularly

once you can put in the work anyone half fit can do a full marathon on 3 or 4 months of constant effort.
