I re watched two of his early fights one against Michael Tann where he was a trim 235. And Cliff Couser where he was 245 but looked fine. He has been 258 (Garcia), 254 (Walker), 255(McCline), 255(Vitali), and 263(Minto). Not very good. He looked good agaisnt Witherspoon ant 239 also. He was faster more explosive and more effective without the weight. He however though has no muscle or much definition though he is a strong guy. I dont think hell ever have that chiseled body some say he needs but I think if he could get to 235 he could do some real damage in the division.
No doubt in my mind he can get in much better shape, making him lighter, faster, more mobile etc... Thing is, he looks in good shape compared to most todays heavies.
I agree he used to look a lot better. A lot of people say on here (not referring to TS) that Arreola will never be ripped or cut up, which I believe is true, but it is not an excuse for him being way over weight for his recent fights. I think he felt like he was at a great weight when he fought Vitali, when he needed to be around 235 at the heaviest to stand a chance. I think he could still get down to 225 pretty easily. If he stay around 260, I dont think is going never going to be inside the top 5. Anyways I want to see him fight a contender that is in shape.
I beleive if he gets to 235 he'll be in great form but I dont think his body will ever be defined or muscled.
If a Klitschko beatdown in a title bout didn't convince him to get serious & include proper diet & roadwork in his training, nothing will.
It just shows he's not taking boxing serious. The guy has everything in front of him money, fame, promotions, e3xposure and good heavyweight power. How are we not seeing a better athletic version of him? When I saw Minto landing bombs on him, I knew Chris would be in trouble against any top heavy. I didn't see any improvements from the Vitali fight.
Ramirez: Hey you want to get something to eat Chris: **** man, I got to get in shape. Ramirez: I know I feel like the Mexican version of Pillsbury Dough boy Chris: You are the Mexican version of Pillsbury Dough Boy Ramirez: I'll tell you what let sweat it off by walking to Burger King Chris: No **** that Ramirez: What do you mean? Chris: I don't feeling like going Ramirez: Chris we can't always order delivery Chris: No it's not that,I am just craving Del Taco Ramirez: You pay, I'll order Chris: You want to work on hand speed later on? Ramirez: Yeah will definitely play Modern Warfare after wards
Do you think with more time to prepare for his next fight not just a return tune up wit only 2 months after a bad TKO loss he may be in better shape and box better. I'm not saying he will but do you think he is going to make any turn around
Nah. I think he pretty much said it in his HBO interview that he just can't put down the food. The man is just addicted to fat greasy food. He's might train his ass off, but he's not gonna put the right fuel in the tank. A year or so ago I always thought he would, but I think he may have already peaked.:scaredas:
Exactly right he needs a nutritionist in his camp from the looks of it in the lead up to the Vitali fight he trained hard just did not eat right. You can go to the gym lose ten pounds but if you eat it back it duz not matter how hard u work
As far as the peak thing goes you may be right about that too but I try not to count out a guy so young just yet
IF he was 235 vs Vitali he still would have lost, but would have landed more than one clean punch... maybe 4 or 5
Lets be real Chris is just a club fighter. Thats not being harsh its being real. He doesnt have the skills to mix it up with the best in the division and simply relies on his strength power tenacity and bruising style to get him the win. If Chris was interested he'd at least come in shape. No ones expecting him to look like Holyfield but a career heavy 260 plus as he was in his last bout is a fighter who has no discipline in my eyes. Considering this is a disciplined sport id say he was on the fast track to nowhere.
