I would take JCC by KO over Arguello, and I hate to say it but I think most of the time PBF takes a decision just by being elusive and sticking and moving. Alexis would stand there and fight with JCC, which is disaster. JCC has a better chin than Marg and his body shots will have Alexis ready to go by rd. 10.

No disrespect to Arguello, but JCC gets underrated I think. He was a true monster.

This is all that really needs to be said.

I put more significance on resume than H2H ranking, so I have Arguello rated at #1.

Nothing to do with Baldomir or Gomez. His offensive performance against Gatti was one of his finest. No question about it. Considering it went a few rounds and he wasn't boxing exclusively behind the jab and on the backfoot. It wasn't a one round blow and we got a few rounds of him varying his shots, and those shots were thrown with bad intentions. I know Gatti was hittable and Mayweather used him as a punching bag.

If Mayweather's showing against Gatti can't persaude anyone to come to the conclusion it was one of the best, perhaps theee best, offensive dominations of his career.......God help them.

What people have to remember that at 130 Floyd was a legitimate power puncher,no he was'nt 1 punch KO artist but you could count him as power puncher at 130.

Three great fighters, three different styles, three HOFERs and ATG.... If they were fighting now at 130 or 135 they would be kicking asses big time.

None of the 130/135 pounders we have at the present would beat any of the three, that's how great they were.

Arguello gets my vote as the most impresive at 130, but H2H I have it even between Floyd and Arguello. I think 15 rounds is a lot of time for Arguello not to be able to catch Floyd with those big right hands, but at the same time I can see Floyd winning a decision, so I have it even.

I agree that given 15 rds Arguello would get to Mayweather. 12 rds, might be a different story. I think Arguello would chop up Chavez, he was to precise and hit too hard at that weight. I think Arguello is the man at JL

Man, this is one of the best threads to vote on. I loved all 3 fighters...At 130 these guys were all great. Judging by their comp, I'd rank them Floyd 1, Chavez 1A, and AA 2. I think both Chavez and Floyd could stop AA. Chavez and Floyd at 130 is a classic. I think Floyd has enough defense to win a decision over 15 rounds. Floyd had size, speed and power at 130. Carlos Hernandez did give Floyd a tough fight and Chavez was better than Hernandez, but Floyd in his biggest fights shut guys out. Chavez and Floyd at 130 were two of the best ever. AA was great also, but he has been ko'd in his prime. I rank him just below these two...

El Explosivo de Flaco! Alexis Arguello. He had too much power and accuracy for anyone at that weight class.

*edit* But I will admit that head to head Floyd would probably outbox him.

They were all ATG champions at the weight with Arguello being involved in the more memorable wars of the 3.

I thought this was both Arguello & Mayweathers best weights - Chavez peaked the weight above at 135 IMO - & even tho most feel that FMJ might beat AA H2H, it doesnt mean he was greater at the weight.

Its very possible that because of styles we could end up with the A beats B but not C syndrome here.....

    Possibilities more than probabilities are......

    Arguello beats Chavez
    Mayweather beats Arguello
    Chavez beats Mayweather

Ps. Thats just a suggestion, those fights all might go the complete opposite, who knows but thats my point, when its so close between fighters you got to split them with the slightest of things & because Arguello had more of a memorable reign at 130 I will give him the crown of greatest ever at the weight.

    Cheers.

I think Mayweather is although Arguello has the better resume of the two. Basically I just rate Mayweather higher H2H.
