Arguello vs. Chavez at 130

I see Arguello edging this, but as they go up in weight Chavez starts to win. Really close at 135 maybe a draw scenario and at 140 Chavez stops Arguello. Usually the taller guys gets the advantage as he moves up.

 

i think at LW i like Alexis to win by a late KO over 15 or points by 12 but i agree with MAG that as they go up Chavez would become closer

 

I always felt Arguello would've had too much for Chavez to overcome.

you pretty much some it up though but i think Alexis could stop Chavez late on in a 15rounder at LW

 

the guy did sound abit clueless but he must be abit more tahn a casual fan to be into Mexicans, might send him a letter saying i have a heap of fights.

i like the latin guys, sometimes i think im mexican in the way i fight, its all natural you want a fight i will give you a fight even in sparring. i hate going abroad and the only place i would go is mexico.

Arguello would tko him at that weight. chavez would be open for arguellos punches, and the "explosive thin man" was one of the rare punchers that hurt his opponents with everything he landed. In many of his fights his opponents would be winning on the scorecards but losing at the same time because the effects of his punches would gradually slow them down which in turn set up the later round ko or tko.

Chavez would play right into arguellos hands with his pressure style and get pasted with punches the likes of which he never felt before. He would get ripped to the body and head, eventually falling apart in the late rounds in which arguello was known to get stronger in. Arguello by ko in 14.

 

This would be a hell of a punch-up but I think Arguello would decision him at 130.

 

I don't think Arguello stops him, but I think his punching power would put Chavez on the backfoot a lot more than he's used to. Chavez was a better boxer than he's given credit for though, so I don't think he'd be totally out of his realm and I can see that straight right hand landing fairly often, but he's not the type of boxer to trouble Arguello down the stretch. I see Arguello landing the bigger, more damaging blows throughout the matchup, with both fighters taking their share of punishment. I actually think Arguello would be the primary aggressor here as well, and would win a close Decision, something like 9-6 or 10-5 in a hotly contested battle.
