That was my first impression of how this fight goes, can Mosely absorb that booming right hand that Pryor did? Don't know, not saying he couldn't and he might take a decision but I'm leaning towards Alexis.
Mosley had a really good chin throughout his career. Forrest hurting him, was kind of the exception. He took big shots from guys who were big punchers but much bigger than arguello. Cotto, Oscar, Mayorga, Vargas even Canelo cracked him and he wouldnt go. I think Mosley might be physically too much for Arguello at 140. Freakishly strong for his size, a great chin and obviously very athletic. Only thing he missed was a good jab and defense, and a good corner to help him with his boxing iq(his best years wasted with his dad)
Mayorga, Cotto, Oscar and Vargas never had the one punch power matched with precision that Arguello had. Arguello hit so hard boxers actually crapped in thier trunks. Mancini for all the negatively he gets had a cement chin and I thought Arguello took his head completely off. And these are not combinations these are SINGLE shots. I really thought Arguello seriously hurt Rooney and he decapitated Costello with ONE punch after being dominated.
Terrible matchup for Mosley. Mosley was there to be hit. Arguello had power in both gloves , and has height and reach over Shane. Mosley becomes a punching bag and Alexis stops him in the 14th round. Only problem is 140 is late in Arguello career, as in retirement years with that wear and tear but I dont think Shanes speed gives Arguello too much trouble because he was tech sound
Personally I see the best version of Arguello, (Pryor fight at the Orange bowl) beating any version of Mosely at 140. Here's why, though Mosely was at his best at Lightweight, Jr.welt he was a one trick pony. Even in his prime years, if his "A" game plan was taken away he never seemed to be able to adjust in the ring and go to plan "B". In my opnion he got that "Dear in the headlights look" and continued to make the same mistakes. Can't remember once in a fight where he adjusted and won. Against a fighter like Arguello he'd need a plan "B" and possibly "C'". In this fight I see Mosley coming out quickly, as he usually did, perhaps putting Arguello on his ass early. But Arguello getting up, adjusting to Mosley hand speed, by putting his excellent jab to use, and focusing his attack to Mosely's body, slowly but surely taking the wind out of his sails. Mosley would get that puzzled look, and begin to wilt. And than the prettiest and straitest righthand in the history of boxing will begin to take it's toll. Mosley wouldn't quit, he didn't have any dog in him, but he wouldn't adjust either. Arguello would turn up the heat around the 10th rd and proceed to take Mosley apart for a late stoppage by the ref. Mosley wouldn't be ko'ed, but the ref or his corner would see there's no point continuing. Arguello by late Tko between the 11th-14 rds.
Despite the fact I don't believe Shane ever actually had a fight at 140 (correct me if I'm wrong), going by his success at LW and WW Mosley UD12
