It makes me laugh when you say 'look at the technical merits'......Arguello is possibly the most technical fighter of all time, the quintessential 'chess player'.........God you are hilarious
We are not friends fleabag. Furthermore you are the one who has shown yourself up by your lack of knowledge and disrespect you have shown the legend Azumah Nelson. Talking about finding people laughable you are a joke. Away with you little boy or is girl.
Exactly whereas we know Arguello was hurt and eventually stopped during his peak years. The thing is that you can get to Arguello.
Azumah1 the chap fleabag is just a moron. That is the level of his intellect. I don't expect people to agree with me but his analysis is way off but then sheep herders like him are followers that cannot think for themselves.
Boxing history and fights that have taken place show that your statement is a lie but unfortunately that is what we have come to expect from you. I hope you get help with your learning difficulties.
You are beyond elp. You are either a complete hypocrite, or so ******ed you cannot see how stupid you are being. Everyone else is laughing at you boys. You say things like I'm not giving Nelson respect. How am I not giving him respect???? By not agreeing that he is unbeatable???????????
Your statement about Arguello being stopped in his peak years shows a serious lack of historical knowledge. Between April 1974 and November 1982 Arguello lost one fight by majority decision. The version of Arguello that fought Pryor was a ring worn fighter in his 83 pro fight, his 19th world title fight, and fighting 2 divisions north of his best weight. No one ever came close to stopping a prime Arguello.
:happy:happy:happy Watch out Boo, you will now be castigated for A) Not looking at the technical aspects B) Not giving Nelson enough credit C) Not agreeing with the almighty Olu, who makes Asero look like Sweet Pea
Absolutely. In hindsight, we might even debate Azumah was closer or as close to his peak when stopped by Sanchez than Arguello was to his vs Pryor. Sanchez was a crisp puncher but Arguello brings thunder to the arena. He also went higher up in weight more comfortably than Nelson did. In essence, Alexis is the bigger man in this for me.
Well we wouldn't be but Olu is still going on about our lack of 'technical knowledge'.........mainly because we don't agree with everything he says
I could go a bit further on the subject of historical knowledge of Arguello's career. People who try to insist that Alexis was at, or near, prime when Pryor beat him rarely look beyong his chronological age. They don't stop to consider the fact that Alexis made his pro debut in 1968 at age 16. Over the next 14 years he fought an average of 5.8 times per year. His opponents included; Ernesto Marcel Rubin Olivares Royal Kobayashi Alfredo escalera X 2 Rafeal "Bazooka" Limon Bobby Chacon Ruben Castillo Cornelius Boza Edwards Jose Luis Ramirez ( The man who took Whitaker's Zero.) Jim Watt Ray Mancinni Andy Gannigan Chronologically Arguello was 30 years old the first time he fought Pryor. In boxing years the man was pushing 40 easily. All one has to do to understand this is watch the 2 Escalera fights and the Chacon fight, and then watch him struggle with Mancinni, and get put on his ass by Gannigan. The difference is clear. He was fading fast when he met Pryor.
BooRadley, Olu's opinions have NOTHING to do with his opinions on Arguello (I doubt he has ever seen Alexis fight to be honest) It is all about people disagreeing with him when he valiantly figths the corner of African fighters.
