Actually I was at ringside watching the Arguello Pyror fight with one of my best mates actually. I have seen a lot of Arguello.

 

Crap he was at his best when Pyror stopped him in their 1st fight.

POOR POOR POOR!!! This is such a badly constructed argument its unreal. Put this up as your defence in the hallowed courtrooms of British judicial system and you'd be sent down mate.

What you have eloquently done is list a fantastic winning strek that Arguello was on leading up to the first PRyor fight. In this run he had comprehensively dealt with young up and comers, hungry contenders, ex champs and dangerous dangerous guys. In the year leading up to the fight Arguello had seen to Jim Watt, Ray boom boom Mancini and the hungry Kevin Rooney (who's only blip thus far was a stoppage loss to the exciting and much toute Davey Moore). If we then extend the time frame back by a couple more months you can add the fantastic Jose Luis Ramirez and Cornelius Boza Edwards to that list! Now i am sure that your contention is not that these were a gallery of road sweepers!!!
Since that has been dealt with and it actually puts into perspective your list... i start to wonder what exactly is your point? When exactly in that continuun did Arguello begin to fade???
Or are you saying he faded magiclly on that night, when him and Pryor served up a pugilistic feast! A faded Arguello ... do me a favour!
So now i challenge you and the sheep flea bag nodding in agreement with all you say without properly scruinising it to point me to the exact point on this about 18 fight winning streak where Arguello faded in his boxing powers before climbing in the ring with Pryor?!

It seems your argument thus is based on what you call poor performances in the run up to Pryor. Was Mancini meant to be a walk in the park then? Still Arguello stopped him and the judges scores at time of stoppage were in favour of Arguello judge: Jose Mayorga 127-122 | judge: Eva Shain 125-122 | judge: Roberto Ramirez 125-123 (Box rec). Also you talk about boxers like they are robots, like alltimers dont have bad days at the office like they dont go through periods of feeling uninspired? Well do these epriods or fights equate to them fading not necessarily. Hate to patronise you, but if we go by your notion then Duran against Hearns shows he is washed up.... hey but then what business does he have going on to beat Barkleys ass! Or how many times then do we say Tommy Hearns was finished only for him to rise to better days. the objective fight is that great boxers are only as good as their present fight. Great boxers get motivated and get up for the huge challenges. Arguello brought his A game for Pryor and Pryor beat him in a great fight .... for you to suggest it was a dimished Arguello on the night is purile nonsense!
