So, this seems to be the official explanation of what went on with Pacquiao last night, concerning his lack of pace and supposed leg issues.

In my own opinion, Pac did seem overtrained. Watching all the build up to the fight, he looked like he was going 100% from the very start of camp. He seemed more intense than previous camps, and the article says he started his training 1-2 weeks earlier than normal.

Maybe his crazy lifestyle as well, always on the move. Human body can only take so much and starts breaking down.

sounds like a exuse to me, everyone makes money of pac so of course they want him to continue it was the same with ali. I wish pac would fight marquez and retire.

This is supposedly what Floyd is hoping. You're right though -- cant fight that way forever.

Some guys keep it longer than others, though. Calzaghe was still rolling with a "speed, reflexes and workrate" style at 36. I think Sergio Martinez is also 36 or close to it.

Pac's been fighting professionally like half his life. It won't go on forever. Still, I don't think what happened last night was due to a career slowdown. We'll find out soon enough.

I read about a month ago that Pac was in better shape already than in the Margarito fight and many here on ESB feared that he may peak too early. Sounds like this is just the case.

Exactly what I thought. Manny was looking great early in camp which was a bit strange. He probably peaked too early and worked himself too hard.

Anybody who works out frequently knows howbadly 'overtraining' can affect your performance. Your body needs time to rest to repair itself and restore energy levels. If you dont give yourself time to rest, your muscles arent going to perform at optimum levels, and your gonna be stiff and slow.

But according to Freddie Roach, this was the best training camp of Pac's career.

It was , which is also an indictation that he overtrained. They were talking about Manny looking great at the beginning of camp . He worked himself too hard.

Thats strange. Pac looked a little bigger than usual last night, especially in the upper body. He didnt have the lean chiseled look he had in the Cotto fight, for example.

He upper body just looked too wide.

Possibly remains of some lactic acid buildup, or maybe even be a shin splint
