You have to take into account that in getting a story with pen and paper, journalist very seldom write out what a person say's word for word.
The journalist at sweet..science may have mistaken and wrote down that Ariza was holding guaze when it could have been a quaze like material.

The hype article goes more into word detail of Ariza's explanation. That article is more like an actual interview than just a run of the mill article.
When its an interview type of an article, the journalist tend to quote more in a word for word format.

I dont see where there's a contradiction here the sweet science article you say that Ariza contradicts himself in, that article actually shows a photograph of Ariza holding the actual dental rolls in his hand that he talked about in the hype article.
The articles together actually exonerate Ariza of any wrongdoing imo.

Smelling salts work instantly, and I have absolutely no doubt that those are what he was given. Watch the vid and you can clearly see Ariza using his thumb and index finger to re-position something inside the napkin so he can squeeze it in his other hand before placing the napkin over Maidana's nose/mouth. Just before he places the napkin over his face you can hear a pop.

If you watch the whole corner video instead of the little snippet, it is obvious there was nothing in the napkin/gauze/whatever.... Broner got his ass whooped...

After the way Ariza went off on Freddie Roach in China I doubt that's still the case. Perhaps this is karma coming to collect from Ariza (who is a POS).

I wonder if we will see an overturned decision/no contest here?

that tmz video does look shady and they put it in slomo it does look like something is in the napkin. if stupid ass ariza truly was stupid enough to do something shady he should be banned from boxing for good. it makes garcia look bad too to be working with such a scumbag, if this is true. i hope they can exonerate maidana because it would suck for that to ruin his performance.

Watch the damn video..... With how much he is moving the napkin around there is no way a pill (that would have had no effect on Maidana during the fight with the amount of time remaining anyways) would have not fallen out.

Bottom line is he got rocked after the bell and the corner used a smelling aide (not illegal) to bring him back too.

You guys must have lost a LOT of money on Broner to be making threads like this. Not to mention that it's slander, plain and simple. I'm tired of people just making **** up and saying 'sorry' afterwards...

Just a couple of points here...

    1) Maidan's reaction to the gauze is inconsistent with the usual reaction to smelling salts. His head would have jumped back on contact. He just sort of lingered when the pad touched his nose, then looked a little annoyed and pushed his hand away the second time.

    2) Considering all the attention Ariza's been getting lately, why in the hell would he do it directly in front of a camera?

It wasn't a pill, you ********. It was an ammonia (smelling salt) packet, and yes, those are illegal, which is why he came up with the BS "dental rolls" story. If there was nothing in the napkin, as you claim, then why in the **** would he say there were dental rolls? God damn you people are stupid.

I didn't bet on the fight and I can't stand Broner's fruity ass, so there goes that theory.

This has got to be the most ludicrous conspiracy theory I've ever heard not involving al qaida.

Where's your source that they're legal provided the ring doctor okays them? Any proof that the ring doctor okayed them in this case? Don't worry, I'll wait. :yep

I already heard Ariza's lame story, and I find it funny that some of you are claiming that there was nothing in the napkin when even he says otherwise.

I'll post anywhere I like, ****boy. I'm not about to let the fact that you're an idiot dictate where I go or what I do.

Translation: i have no source and there's absolutely no evidence that smelling salts were allowed by a ring doctor for this fight. :yep
