Dan Rafael on the ESPN site is claiming Arlovski has been training under Freddie Roach and will make is pro boxing debut on the Casamayor vs Marquez undercard. I must say this has surprised me as I never saw this one coming at all.

He would be too stiff. He would be no better than someone like Mike Marrone. He better fight cans for a while.

i don't agree i think he would be to stiff after being hit by any decent punchers but he seems quite a fluid mover. The glass jaw is what will stop him being a decent boxer.

Glass jaw is James Thompson. But you can't really say Arlovski has glass jaw for couple of losses by KO from MMA gloves.

James Thompson has took some pretty good shots in his career against some good opponents. I wouldnt classify him as a glass jaw like some.

If Thomspon is not glass jaw than, Arlovski DEFINITELY isn't.

I havent watched enough of his fights. I go by if a guy shows he can take it quite a bit of the time. A lot of guys have good chins when they kind of see the punch before getting hit but bad chins when caught by surprise and then you have the good chins regardless...

That means nothing man. Id hope everyone in MMA could atleast take a couple shots here and there. When you have been KOed in less then 2 minutes like 5 times your chin sucks and sucks bad. Its actually a insult to chins.

Because AA's standup is so superior to most of his opposition in MMA he rarely gets hit flush. When he does, he usually goes to sleep. He'll be hit much more in boxing and stamina would be more of an issue as well. If he sticks to fighting cans exclusively he could be OK.

I think that Arlovskie should have boxed a long time ago he is a little old to get started but he could move up fast. he has never really been nocked out cold people forget that in MMA you have no time to recover. In boxing you can get stunned cover up move whatever take an eight count and continue. MMA is not very forgiving. I am interested into seeing what he can do Stamina will not be a problem just learn how to pace yourself as all. Breathing properly, relaxing etc In MMA there is no relaxing.

I think that Arlovskie should have done this a long time ago He is perfect body type for boxing. He is a little too old to get started now However i still think that he can move up quick. freddie roach is one tf the best trainers out there. He has never really been knocked out cold people foret that in MMA yu get rocked there is no time for recovery. In boxing you can cover up, take a knee, standing 8 count etc I donot think that stamina will be an issue either. it is just learning how to breathe and relax.

Arlovski being KO'd wasn't because of a bad chin. It is because he was an aggressive, offensive fighter... which puts you out there to be knocked out. We can see since he settled down on his feet, he can take punches pretty well. He took all of Tim Sylvia's shots for 5 rounds in the rematch, even with a blown out knee. In boxing, he will be able to focus on nothing but punches... throwing, and avoiding/accepting. It is easier to take a punch, when you are always looking for a punch. In MMA, it is much easier to get knocked out by a punch, because you can't focus on punches... you have to worry about other strikes, takedowns, chokes, subs, ect... that might be coming your way.

These transitions from MMA or K1 to boxing never end well. A quick perusal of that site that has BOXing RECords will show most former MMA or K1 fighters' boxing career ending with a 1 or 2 round KO. With them being the ones KO'ed.

actually there have been alot of kickboxers that have made the transition to boxing very well. It is from boxing to kickboxing that they haven't. Vitali Klitschko, povetkin David Haye There is a champion in the light weights right now. all of your Asian fighters were kick boxers prior to boxers
