I have a question for the boxing trainers. I've been watching boxing for many years, and I've heard some trainers tell their fighters not to rest their arms on the ropes in between rounds. I've seen other trainers say nothing to their fighters when they rest their arms on the ropes. Manny Steward once said that resting your arms on the ropes between rounds causes your arms to "fatigue". What is correct?

I think the idea is that raising the arms puts more strain on your heart because for blood to reach raised arms, your heart has to work harder. I wouldn't think resting on the ropes or not makes much difference though, but all trainers have their quirks.

I didn't know either, but in amateur competition i've seen fighters told to put their arms down, by the ref, or other officials.
