How should he be viewed in the history of these two divisions?

He had a great WW run but were his performances and opposition at the lower weights also worthy of greatness?

I'm not talkin H2H here, I'm talking ATG.

I'm gonna just throw this out there, but could a case be made that Arguello achieved more at these two weights then Hank did?

Note, I'm not offering my opinion here, I'm just looking for discussion.

because if a thread like this stays in the general it's bound to be turned into something pacman related.

Over in the classic discussions are much more sensible :good

H2H you gotta rate him highly at FW, he was steamrolling people at the weight as Manassa used to point out rather frequently. Resume wise...His official losses to Arizmendi hurt him, but IIRC he admitted that there was shifty business involved with all those bouts. He did beat Midget Wolgast who is an awesome little guy, but i'm not too sure about the rest of his FW comp. I know Zurita, Wright, Belloise, Bass, and Klick were good fighters though. I'm somewhat interested in Sarron, who he won the title from. Any info?

As a LW i think it's hard to rate him highly. Not enough high quality bouts at the weight, although Ambers is an incredible strap.

woohoo it's out of the GF.

Resume wise how do you think his stints at FW and LW hold up in comparison to other greats? i.e. arguello, marquez and anyone else who mad the jump.

Better than both of those as a FW easily. As a LW, i think id put him maybe under Alexis(adding up the mans 130 and 135 competition), and I'm not sure about Marquez, whose lightweight legacy is still being made.

Luf you've gotta shorten the scope of the questions you ask, rarely do you get satisfying answers from such general inquiries :deal

I don't rate what he achieved at FW/LW that highly, although if his losses were controversal that maybe up for debate. I think Arguello/JMM achieved more at FW/LW.
