i know adamek can beat him. he's got excellent world class experience and can grow into the weight. surley he shouldn't put on extra weight after the estrada fight? it will slow him down. does he not feel strong as a heavyweight? extra weight will not help. he's a naturally lanky guy and going up to 230 would make him bloated, like jua carlos gomez, like jirov were. adamek did interesting things vs estrada, that he can develop to beat arreola. notice how he never kept his back to the ropes, always turning. notice how he'd throw a quick combo and then quickly pivot to the sides. arreola will hit harder than estrada, for sure. but he will be so much easier to hit. of course he'll have to fight a very disciplined fight, but we saw that in the bell and the banks fights, big cruisers with a big punch. adamek can win but i hope he doesn't come in at a foolish weight.
OK OK, i tjhink this is all bull****. arreola coming in at 235? yeah, right. adamek coming in at 235? hmmm... in other words someone's read that recent article where the author says a 235-pound catchweight would be good, and then attributing these comments to the trainers and conditioners of adamek and arreola!
so from what i got in this thread the adamek fans think arreola is overrated and has little power? ok i'll be sure not to give adamek credit if he wins.
i'm an adamek fan. i've seen him deal with big punchers such as o'neil bell and jon banks, in clinical, ruthless fashion. one reason i love the arreola fight, is that arreola is a big puncher, is a big man, a big test. adamel's my fave fighter and he's in a very dangerous fight. i'm glad he didn't look perfect v estrada, more of a spoiler, because prior to last weekend arreola's team showed a reluctance to accept this fight. clearly, the mexican-american is dangerous, proof being the fights in which he wrecked prospects travis walker (who beat a badly out of shape estrada) and chazz witherspoon. while there are doubts whether adamek belongs at heavyweight, there are other doubts re arreola. is he fit enough, fast enough, for a long fight? can he be effective againsta very good world champion? will he struggle badly with the cruiserweight champ's speed and angles? is chris any good over the championship distance? it's a fascinating fight. i pick adamek as i've followed his career very closely since the move up to cruiserweight, and i believe in his all-round ability/experience/toughness/sheer will to win. methinks the pole puts it all together in april and hits the jackpot. this is his jirov-mesi fight and he can't get it wrong, like jirov did.
Adamek at 225-230 is a huge mistake. He should really be 215-220, anymore weight and he risks losing speed and stamina.
Can't see Arreola coming in under 245-250 let alone 235. But unless he comes in around 300 pounds he'll beat Adamek. He is going to be too big and strong for Adamek who just won't be able to compete with the big heavyweights. And Adamek probably should come in a bit lighter to use his speed and quickness advantages to the fullest, like Jones did with Ruiz. Even though I think Arreola is a solid favorite to pummell Adamek this is still a very entertaining match up. If Adamek pulls the upset I'd like to see him in with Haye or Povetkin(after his Wlad bout). If Arreola wins I'd love to see him in with Solis or a final eliminator type fight with Peter to see who gets a shot at Wlad. Good fight and a good doubleheader for HBO with Arreola-Adamek and Angulo-Julio.
I would be suprised to see Arreola below 250. He doesn't have much work ethic. Edit: remember how he was going to get into shape after the Klit fight? Then came in at 263.
I'm pretty sure he'd get a good amount of credit if he beats Arreola. He probably still won't be favored over the Klitschkos or Haye, but that doesn't mean he won't get deserving credit. Now if he manages to KO Arreola, well then there might just be a huge Haye vs. Adamek war breaking out.
