Peter quit on his stool. The ref stopped the fight for Chris. Chris wanted to go on. Peter did not. difference
Excellent thread, totally agree. You could easily tell this guy plans to DIE in there than drop on the canvas. I felt really sad for Arreola at the end, you can tell the guy wanted it SO badly but Vitali is just too good to allow it, the will was there but he was backed off by Vitali. At least the TRIED and didn't resort to doing NOTHING like Peter did, this guy landed some serious flush shots and even Vitali admitted he was hurt from a left jab in the post fight interview(No, not the Merchant one, the one with that dude from Maxboxing) and was shocked. Arreola landed some serious flush shots, Vitali had the ability to take it. How could ANYONE diss a fighter who CLEARLY planned to DIE trying in there. Unlike Haye and Toney he went in there and fought, he didn't just talk trash and run far away when he was contacted officially and professionally to make it happen. Respect that at least.
Peters didn't cry like *****. And I didn't see any argument from Arreola when the fight was being stopped. He just cried afterwords. He was hurt bad at the nd of the last round and was going to be Ko'd in the next round, even he knew that.
he came in and did his best. His gameplan was spot on, but there were only two problems, Vitali was faster with his feet and his hands. Chris wasnt fast enough to do anything. I admire his courage and his tenacity.
Whats skills did he display besides the ability to get hit the face over and over again? Chris wasnt landing **** all the entire fight. He was landing about about 8 punches a round, and getting hit over 30 times a round. Arreola was completely dominated begging to end, he had no business sharing the same ring as Klitschko.
Congratulations on Arreola on never once fighting a legit contender before getting a World title shot, while showing up looking like a whale the entire time. Then finally trying to train ass off for once, and getting owned every second of the fight against a far superior fighter. Yeah, he has heart. But so did Chuck Wepner and he did better against Muhammad Ali compared Arreolas total failure tonight.
I really think that when he realized, probably around the 5th round, that he wasn't gonna win the fight, that he wanted to go the distance. His crying was a bit much but he had a lot riding on the fight and its always tough to realize that your dream is over. We'll see him again. In a few years he'll probably get another shot at a title and this won't hurt his box much as he did show a lot of heart.
