This is a travesty. This must be the lowest purse paid to a HW title challenger in many decades. Wilder and his team are ripoff artists. Source: http://www.boxingnews24.com/2016/07/purses-wilder-1-4m-arreola-150k-vasquez-225k-diaz-125k/
Still more as he's entitled to coming off 4 losses in a row if you don't count the crooked judges. But for a HW titlefight it's ridiculously low.
Obviously it's measly compared to some, but Wilder isn't a draw, Szpilka got 250K and Duhaupas got 140K. Arreola got 125K for his last fight so it's still better than what he was getting and none of the other title holders would go near him as he's shot, so it's not like he has any potentially better paydays lined up.
Just goes to show what small time players Team Wilder are. He runs his mouth about big unification shots, truth is he's a small timer, not a draw, unknown in his home country, he's beating no hopers with 4 week training camps and paying them ridiculous money.
All the $$ is in England now, as well as the best HW's. Wanna get paid (and lose your belt) come to England.
As a reference, Arreola made $125k vs Travis fkin' Kaufman -- in a tune up fight! Wilder was greedy to just add $15k to that for a WBC world title shot . American HW boxing is a travesty.
Exactly. Where are those guys who kept rapping about K2's lowball purses and slave contracts :roll:
