Arreola is now ranked #2 by the IBF; so when will he get a world title shot?

Correct if I am wrong, but I believe that after Arreola's sensational KO win over Travis Walker last Saturday night, Michael Buffer announced that his victory has made him not only the unified WBC Continental Americas and NABF Heavyweight Champion, but also ranked #2 in the world by the IBF. I believe he is just behind undefeated Alexander Povetkin of Russia as the next mandatory challenger. So when will Arreola get a shot against Wladimir Klitschko for his unified IBF/WBO/IBO Heavyweight titles?

I'm guessing the end of 2009. Most likely against Wlad. I don't see him losing it. He'll beat Povetkin pretty easily, in early 2008. David Haye might already be a distant memory if he gets in the ring with Vitali. If Haye gets smashed by Vitali, Wlad might go for unification with Chewbacca late summer. I think he'll win that. Hopefully Arreola takes this fight seriously and gets his ass in shape.

Maybe fight a recognizable top ten and see what he's really made of...however, I know Rahman, Barret and Tua refused to fight the Mexican.

Arreola wont get past Povetkin unless he stops expanding his waist line and learns some defense.

...and if he gets past Povetkin and thats a big if, Klitschko will tear him up and either TKO his ass sometime after round 8 or cruise to a wide UD 12.

An eliminator first would be a great idea for Arreola's credibility, he still hasn't faced any top ten opponents yet, but there he is at #2...

Just goes to show it's all about connections, network and promoters.
All you need to get a title shot today is some knockouts under your belt, and sometimes not even that.

Is it any wonder guys like Holyfield fight on?

Povetkin will still be IBF mandatory. Wlad has to face him by September next year (something like that). Arreola will have to fight another eliminator to become mandatory.

Wlad already said that he wants to fight him in his next fight in the US.

Povetkin is still mandatory and Wlad doesn´t have to fight him allt that soon since the Rahman fight will count as a mandatory. Arreola has to win another eliminator to become the mandatory and even then the IBF champ will have some time before fighting him. Wlad has to fight Povetkin next year and he´ll probably look to fight Valuev and/or Haye rather than Arreola, so don´t count on a Wlad-Arreola fight next year.

I´m a Wlad fan and think this would be somewhat of a shame. Wlad needs to fight more meaningful fights. He has had too many fights against undeserving or sub-par fighters, because of mandatories or cancellations. The division is rather week, so Wlad really needs to fight it´s best. He should not use his voulantary defenses to fight the likes of Arreola, but go for Vauluev, Chagaev or Haye in those fights.

Wlad has also stated that he wouldnt mind fighting his former stable mate Dimitrenko in one of his next fights.

    Probably in late 2009.

I doubt it will happen just yet but i would love to see Haye v Arreola. It would be a great build up and fight; both unbeaten heavy's, the UK v USA rivalry, both hard hitting exciting fighters.

I doubt it will happen just yet though. It makes more financial sense for the Klits to fight both whilst they are both undefeated (i know Haye has lost a fight but that was at cruiserweight), so in 2009 i expect one klit to fight Haye and the other to fight Arreola.

The only other fight were the Klits stand a chance of making more money is if they fight Valuev in Germany/Russia/Ukraine but i doubt that will happen anytime soon as Valuev's handlers seem reluctant to let their man step into the ring with either Klit brother.
