He's such a great guy, isn't he? Unfortunately I think he lets his wife do too much of his decision making for him. if you think he has more pop than Lamon, wow...that's saying a lot...but, I have to disagree...I don't think anyone has more pop than Lamon Brewster...but, I agree that because he does have the power to change a fight with one punch, he would be a tough fight for anyone...except the Klitschkos...they're just too good and too smart for Chris. Chris is a good guy with power and some skills...but, he's not the sharpest tool in the shed...If you're a true fan of Chris, you don't want him to take a fight with either Klitschko right now...wait till they get a little bit older and a little bit slower.
His movement/stamina has seriously improved and keeps getting better. For Arreola he won't need much in my opinion, the first few rounds would be more than enough for this fight to be over. All Wladimir will do is jab/right hand, those two are more than enough to end it and early. Wladimir can also throw serious punches going backwards now. Steward has done a masterful job improving him, every fight he shows something new.
People do realize that and I'm sure they realize how slow Arreola is. Wladimir is NOTHING now like when he fought those "lesser" guys you mention and Arreola is no better than those guys either. If anything, he might be worse.
Lamon blew out his knee with the fight against Etienne, didn't he? Sergei fought the fight of his life that night while taking a beating from Lamon...poor Sergei hasn't been the same since...what a terrific fight that was.
Wlad is the biggest puncher in boxing imo. He combines raw power, technique and speed better than anyone today. Watch that right hand behind the jab he landed on chagaev in round 5. The speed is shocking - like a welterweight. Chagaev had never been down in his career pro or amateur and wlad was hurting him with single right hands. You could see his knees buckle. Vitali may be a more effective puncher overall cause he throws from more angles and has a higher workrate but Wlad punch4punch is at the top for me. Arreola is heavy-handed but does not have that snap on his punches. A lot of them look telegraphed.
I just can't get the picture of him being dropped a put into serious trouble by the limited Travis Walker. I really do want him to get better and make some serious noise but I think either of the Klits hammer him into the ground like a rail road spike.
Your absolutely right it was early in the fight when it happend. I swear it reminded of what happend to Tyson against Danny Williams back in july of 04, how Tyson still was able to throw bombs even after suffering the injury, Lamon was the same way that night. Him and Eitenne traded some vicious blows. Liakhovich/Brewster was an awesome fight, best of 06 IMO. Lamon unloaded everything on Sergei that night, just too bad he only went down once and was able to give Brewster a taste of his own medicine and then some. I would also like to point out Meehan/Brewster went the distance with Lamon winning I believe a majority decision, Meehan's next fight was against Rahman in late 04, Haseem destroyed him and knocked him out in the middle rounds. Brewster's power is good, but bit overrated imo.
Thanks for verifying that, bro...but, with the KO ratio that Lamon has, I wouldn't say his power is overrated...His biggest weakness is his lack of punch volume. When you combine speed with power in boxing, you sacrifice punch volume...If he combined all three variables, most of his opponents wouldn't see the second round.
We all know Golota didn't. I even seen a poster that cam out after the fight with both mens pictures on it, it said "Gone in 30 seconds". As far as Brewster goes, the man does pack a punch. We seen it when he fought Luan Krasniqi in Germany, a fight that he was losing, until he landed one big hook and it was over the next round. As I said before, Brewster was my favorite fighter for many years, I just always put his heart and determination ahead of his power, when it came to his best attributes.
Vlad is getting better every fight. He had natural talent and now, through work, is starting to peak. Emanuel Steward has done a good job also. Vlad trains extremely hard and wisely.
Arreola is pretty overrated, in his last two fight He comes in brawling and in both fights He got cought a few times a got pretty hurt. I expect him to get KOED soon, and then the new hope is lost again.
