Actually Holyfield never was over 221. From what I've heard Arreola entered camp at 295, cutting down insane amounts of weight to get down to 230, and then balloon up again won't do him any good. He has to keep his weight steady in the 240s or so, if he takes pro boxing seriously. He used to be a skinny guy for gods sake. In 2001 (I'm also born in '81) me and Arreola both weighed 175, I'm at 180 now, Arreola has gained 120 pounds. I'm pretty sure he has an eating disorder.
Arreola is lazy, he is basicly the Mexican version of Sam Peter, had potential but is too lazy to do anything other than eat.
Arreola isn't going near 230lbs, there's no evidence to suggest he will retain his power from that weight anyway. Sadly even a well conditioned Arreola isn't gonna succeed at this type of world level. Because he doesn't have the skills and boxing ability to beat the top contender's. He needs to bring in a trainer, who can teach him the more technical attributes that will help him. Rather than the brawling style he's implemented through his career so far....
I am sorry if I am sounding rude but I will say exactly what I feel, this is PRO boxing, how can you come into the ring looking like a sumo-wrestler is beyond me, and try to actually CONVINCE people that you are in shape. Some people say that some body types are will never be muscular, that is understandable, eg. juan diaz. This guy simply doesn't have the discipline. Personally, I feel there is simply no point talking about these type of fighters, if we find it necessary as fans to say that 'he has to lose x amount of pounds to be at his best' then it is not necessary to talk about him, being in shape is a pre-requisite, not something that we should ask for. This is the heavyweight division, a division that was blessed with legends Ali, Frazier, Marciano, Dempsey, this man gets the opportunity to fight for the greatest prize in sports against Vitali, and he comes in looking like a car accident- it is a ****ing disgrace. Don't waste your time on this guy.
Who has Chris beaten to convince you that if he lost the weight he'd be any good? He'd be a 230 lb severely limited HW. No great wins, looked pedestrian and ineffectual in both of his steps up in competition. ****ing hell, if he weren't obese, nobody would even be talking about this guy's potential. He's fat, but he also has poor footwork and can't deal with any angle or jab.
Do you realisticallythink that Arreola can get down to 230 for a fight given his body type and lifestyle. Not to mention the fact that he doesn't really have the skill set to "box" with any of the elites. I don't really think being lighter wouldmake that much of a difference given his subpar accuracy and defense. Bottom line: Whether at 250 or 230, he doesn't have the skill set to beat the Klits or Povetkin.
I'm late to the party, but I'll say this: If crying in the ring after getting beaten up by Vitali didn't make him change his ways, NOTHING WILL. I mean, it doesn't get any more humbling that crying in the ring, that's a lot worse than just getting KO'd, imo. Oh, and YES I DO BELIEVE ARREALA COULD get down to 230 if he wanted to. He used to fight at 175, so he can make 55 POUNDS OVER THAT...the problem is he doesn't have the dedication.
