Arreola-Stiverne should be a good one

To the dinner table definitely. In a fight, not a chance.

If Arreola wins, maybe he will give Demetrice King a rematch.....

I agree with this. I am not entirely convinced that Stiverne's victory over Arreola wasn't a fluke. And what has Stiverne done since??

It's not like Stiverne has had much choice regarding his activity. He's basically been frozen out since beating Arreola due to Vitali prolonged retirement decision and the WBC willingness to bend over backwards to accommodate their champion.

He could have taken tuneups, voluntary fights.

But the issue is not just Stiverne's inactivity, it's whether or not his victory over Arreola really proves he's top level. I'd pick him to beat glass-jawed guys like Wilder, but I'm not sure he beats a durable fighter like Arreola twice - assuming Chris comes in in good condition.

Well Stiverne clearly showed he had the one punch power to drop a durable fighter like Arreola, had Arreola gone all out he'd have probably been KO'ed. Had the first fight been even remotely competitive then I could see why some are saying Arreola has a chance 2nd time round but he got his ass handed to him.

As for Arreola's conditioning, might as well wish for Evander Holyfield to to come back and unify the division it's as about as likely as seeing a fit Arreola. Also Stiverne was in horrible shape for the first fight as well, 10lbs heavier than when he almost lost to Austin. So yeah Arreola could have been in better shape but so could Stiverne.

Though I will agree with you beating Arreola doesn't make me think Stiverne will be a top heavyweight for the forseeable future, he has weight issues himself and quite frankly Arreola has lost to anyone who wasn't completely hopeless so beating him is hardly anything amazing.

People are remarkably stupid. Poll numbers are way to big for Stiverne. Did anyone actually see the fight? Arreola was winning until the shot at the very end of round 3 that took him by surprise and broke his nose. He didn't fight the same after that, but still pressed Stiverne in around round 8 and looked on the verge of a ko for a minute. Guess what people, fighters who win the first fight don't always win the rematch, and this is as good a bet as any for a change in results.

This is my point. The outcome of this rematch is hardly so much a foregone conclusion that many seem to think it is. I will not be the least bit surprised if Arreola takes it. While Stiverne's loss to Demetrice King may be the result of a quicky stoppage, the fact that he was put in a position where such a thing was even remotely possible against a fighter of that calliber shows he is beatable at the world class level - very beatable.

Wow, you are a sad, deluded little hater. Take your hate goggles off, dude. Arreola won the first two rounds, which were fairly close, Stiverne (pre last 3 seconds) was winning a close third round. Arreola then gets caught in the last seconds by a punch that would have ko'd virtually anyone else, and limits his breathing and effectiveness the rest of the fight. Arreola's resume apart from that is substantially better than Stiverne's. Rationally speaking, its a 50/50 fight. And Arreola has beaten a slew of top 50 level HW's, has one of the best ko records among HW contenders in history, one of the best chins in the division, and while McCline and Mitchell are the only top 15ish HW's he's beaten to this point, his victories over them were impressively done(neither had ever been ko'd so quick). He's clearly top 10, and frankly poses the biggest matchup problems for Wlad among any HW contender. I'd love to see him win the title to set up a unification with Wlad. That would be the most interesting HW fight in years.

Yes Arreola won the first 2 rounds but he was being out boxed in the 3rd. He threw only 19 punches in the 3rd before being dropped heavily. If the nose effected his work rate so much why did he only throw 19 punches in the 3rd? The nose breaking had nothing to do with Arreola's work rate dropping if it had he would have thrown more in the 3rd. It was Stiverne making Arreola not attack because he was being punished when he rushed in which is exactly what happened when he did get dropped.

You call me a deluded hater, I call you a deluded chubby chasing Arreola lover. Arreola is not a genuine top 10 heavy, when has he beaten a genuine top ten fighter, answer never. If he had been genuine top ten he'd not have been protected during his 2nd title run fighting guys like Molina and Butler then taking what many thought was an easy title eliminator and getting exposed.

You say's it's rational to have this a 50/50 fight when the first fight was one sided? That's ludicrous. According to your logic a rematch between Broner and Maidana is a 50/50 fight. You argument lacks any logic or rational reasoning.

You have absolutely no logical abilities, its amusing that you say my argument was illogical. Its like the little kid saying "you're wrong" to the teacher telling him 2 plus 2 is 4. Yes, Arreola only threw 19 punches in round 3, but he landed 7, as many as Stiverne. At best it was a close round favoring Stiverne before the punch that kd'd Arreola. To argue he wasn't limited after that by his broken nose shows you know absolutely nothing about boxing.

As far as Arreola not being a top 10 guy, that's just plain irrational hatred. You could make an argument McCline was top 10. The year before nearly beat and 3 times dropped Peter, the best non K HW around back then. I'd put him in the top 15, but Arreola's destruction of him was unlike anything McCline had ever faced. Moreover, Arreola's record and performance against top 50 level HW's is admirable. How many top 10 HW's actually beat a top 10 HW while they are top 10? Not too many, Adamek, Stiverne and Povetkin are the only top 10 guys right now who have beaten clear top 10 guys while they were top 10. Does that mean there are only 3 top 10 fighters? You're a complete moron. Its not about beating top 10 fighters, its about beating the most top level opposition in the best way possible, and Arreola has done that better than all but maybe 5 or 6 active HW's.

Sorry son, go back to class, cause you've been schooled.

You have a serious malfuction son.

That was an excat assessment of the situation. Fights are not won in the opening two rounds.

Ali often gave up the first few rounds of his fights.

Little man, you must be one of the single most stupid posters on here, don't even talk to me, you're incapable of analysis and barely capable of reading.

Oh, and Ali often gave up a ton of rounds, because while he admirably found ways to win, he was often not at all dominant in fights. He lost almost every round to Ron Lyle before he put in together and ko'd him in the 10th or 11th.
