i dont get it..him just sitting around is not getting him any moeny at all..been a year since his last fight.....he should just take what they offer...if he wins then he can get more and moreatsch
To be exact, Kershner is bitching about the money and that would be far from the first time he could balls-up a fight for Tua. If Tua doesn't get this fight, I think retirement should be a serious option. I can't imagine any of the champions being nutty enough to gift him an out-of-the-blue fight, and most of the other available ranked contenders outside of Arreola are boxers, stick 'n' movers that would drive Tua nuts.
Tua is either delusional or wants to retire. If it's even close to $2.5 million it's crazy money. I'm frankly surprised he'd make more than a couple hundred thousand dollars. He hasn't fought anyone in the top 100 since Rahman in 2003. Neither has Arreola. Still, it would be a great slugfest while it lasted. And the winner possibly gets the V.Klit vs Peter winner. Tua loses to Klit, but Peter is a pick 'em fight, given their styles. You're right Damon, the other guys beat Tua on the outside, or counter him to death. This is the easiest road he'll ever get to big money and a possible belt. Tua is nuts not to take this fight, and I'm a huge Tua fan.
If Tua is really demanding an exhorbient amount of money, as he is reported to be, I think he may see Arreola as possibly his last big fight, and one that he may not be confident in winning, so he's wanting to cash out, now. Who knows. But if he's confident he can beat Arreola, it would seem to be very unreasonable for him to demand huge money, seeing as how he's been idle for so long, and is not exactly a hot commodity in the division, right now. Not to mention that he is not exactly in a prime position to pick and choose from a group of willing and credible opponents.
Diehard - as you know I have been a long-time Tua fan. But he and Kushner are literally NUTS if they do not take this fight. As you so rightly said Diehard- "Tua is either delusional or wants to retire. If it's even close to $2.5 million it's crazy money. I'm frankly surprised he'd make more than a couple hundred thousand dollars. He hasn't fought anyone in the top 100 since Rahman in 2003. Neither has Arreola. Tua is top 10 on a H2H basis though imo. I think he KO's Arreola eventually. It's just the basics of I think he can KO Arreola but I don't think CA can KO him.
I think Tua will eventually accept the fight, what better, more lucrative option does he have? Tua will get something ranging from 60% - 50% of the money.
"Arreola gets thrashed by the first top 10 fighter he faces" "I was hoping Tua would do it" That would leave one to believe you think Tua was top 10 wouldn't it?
Realistically Tua IS Top 10 - if you put him in with top Heavys today. He is certainly good enough - just has not shown it by fighting them lately. The questions will remain until he fronts up and starts facing them. Not since Rahman years ago has he bothered facing top contenders.
