Arreola has gotten himself into good shape in recent fights, it's a shame he couldn't do that during his prime when it would of really made a difference. So I could see an outcome where Arreola goes the distance and finishes stronger against a Chisora who we all know blows his load and fades late. But can Arreola win enough in the first half of the fight to get the win? Chisora faded pretty early vs Usyk but that's because Usyk is so elusive and made Chisora miss a lot that won't be the case vs Arreola and so I think Chisora won't fade until later maybe not until round 8 or there about. Personally I think now it would be competitive. Chisora is in charge for the first 6-8 rounds with Arreola finishing stronger but Chisora's defence and ring savvy which we saw vs Takam when he rolled with punches while being out worked and then came back will be the difference and I think that's enough to see him have 1 or 2 good rounds in the 2nd half and that earns him the win. In their primes I think when Chisora was 240lbs and Arreola was out of shape I think it's less competitive. Just compare their performances vs Vitali, Chisora was just a little bit better.
A shot to pieces, formerly retired Arreola would just about be the best name on Chisora's record. If not the best, it wouldn't be far off. That's how bad his record is for a man who's managed to con the British public into paying for his bouts.
The British public don't expect him to win, we all know his level, what he brings is entertainment as he always tries to make a fight of it even when he's outclassed and is willing to fight anyone. British sports fans don't just follow guys with perfect records who are expected to win all the time we like a plucky underdogs and Chisora definitely falls into that category along with many other previous plucky underdogs like Bruno in boxing or when Eddie the Eagle Edwards competed at the winter Olympics.
There are many more British boxers who "come to fight", who are much, much better than Chisora, but don't get a sniff. That's due to the PPV mugs who are stupid enough to fork out on Chisora. For whatever reason, his smack talk and thuggish persona has the PPV mugs reaching for their wallet. I don't blame Chisora in the slightest. He's crap and he's making millions off PPV mugs. He's somewhere between British level and European level, hasn't won any of the big bouts in his career and doesn't do anything particularly exciting in or out of the ring. Just because he bum rushes an opponent for the first few rounds before he gasses does not make him some sort of exciting boxer. He's a woman beating scumbag.
Whether they are mugs or not, Chisora is clearly doing something right to appeal to UK fans because it's not like they just fork over their cash for any fighter on such a regular basis. If it was that easy every exciting fighter would be a PPV star in the UK and clearly they are not as you've said so yourself. So many fighters have tried to do what he has done and become a fan favourite and failed while having more talent and ability, yet some how he has managed it.
You're not wrong, but if anybody is forking out pay-per-view fees to watch Chisora then more fool them. If the fee was £0.05 it would still be too much for me.
Good fight between two guys that love to do just enough to lose. I think Chisora is a little bit fresher of the two, so he would win a close hometown decision.
