I'd be surprised If Arreola could last more than 3Rds to be completely honest. It could be exciting for a couple of minutes, But I don't expect an actual fight.
Arreola is too slow with his feet and doesn't have enough savvy to deal with someone who is well versed at keeping someone at range. Arreola also hasn't shown a good inside game, and I don't see him dealing well when Wlad just grabs hold (and to be fair Wlad doesn't work well on the inside). Arreola will bring a youth, unbeaten record (he doesn't know how to lose), he enjoys a tear up and may cause Wlad some problems. However, expect another painfully boring jab fest with a frustrated Arreola not knowing how to get inside and land anything meaningful. Look for Klitschko to win around the 10th or a lopsided points verdict.
I have a feeling he would beat both of them. Arreola looked better in his last fight than either of them did. And even then, if he did fight them and the fight was declared a title eliminator, it would be criticized as another example of sanctioning body madness, giving a badly faded foremer champion a title shot that they dont deserve. Which neither Maskaev or Rahman do.
he took a knee after a couple of hard shots by a 230+ hw, he wasn't hurt badly, had stable feet under him right after the knockdown. arreola is one of the most dangerous fights for wlad, but the difference in skill is probably too big. it could be something like wlad vs. peter II but this will be the first fight in a long time where i will be very nervous.
to his credit, Walker came to fight in that first round. He was firing off punches, throwed straight, working the jab and blasting combos. He threw 106 punches that first round, and no could say he didnt look sharp. Both guys came to fight, and Arreola did hang on and he obviously has a lot of power and was accurate as well, even if is slow and overweight. It wont be enough against Wlad though
tough to say: povetkin has a better technique than arreola but he lacks true power which is needed to bother wlad. unless wlad runs out of gas due to povetkin's impressive workrate, he will hit povetkin with his superior reach and cause huge swellings on alexander's head. the fight might get stopped in the later rounds because of cuts or the ref jumping in, if he has seen povetkin taking too many shots.
Arreola is more dangerous for Wlad because he had one-punch-power. But both will lost against Wlad by KO or TKO.
i agree, on what arguement are you basing this? I believe Wlad has all the tools to overcome Arreola, unless Arreola gets lucky with a big punch.
The reason it took Wlad so long to dispatch these guys is because they were in survival mode for most of the fight. Iggy was basically crouching down and leaning back away from Wlad for 12 rounds; Rahman laid on the ropes for long periods with his guard high and after the first 6 rounds Thompson gave up. These days Wlad doesn't take much risks so if a fighter is just sitting back and covering up thus giving Wlad no openings then he is just content to keep his opponent on the end of his jab and rack up the points. He won't start winging hard, clubbing hook's around the guard or batter the body to lower guard and expose the head like other, more risk taking fighter's might. Does this make him duller? Yes. Does it make him any less of an effective fighter? No. The reason Wlad didn't look great against these fighters was not because he is a bad fighter but because of the way they fought (or didn't fight to be exact). As for Wlad against Arreola i think Wlad wins it. The way to beat Wlad is with good head movement so as you aren't continuously getting hit in the face with that ram rod jab (Arreola has no head movement) and quick feet to get inside of the jab when it has missed and land some leather on the big guy (Arreloa has slow feet). Good stanima wouldn't go a miss either (Another thing Arreola will have to work on). Arreola does have some things going for him; he has good power and he has an decent chin. Also when he took a knee in the Walker fight it did show a level of maturity for such a relatively young/inexperienced fighter which could help him out. It does show that when under pressure he is capable of using his brain. He also looks pretty strong and this will put him good stead when Wlad ties him up on the inside. All in all though Arreola will give Wlad a few problems but his lack of skills will tell and eventually reduce his chances of victory to just a punchers chance.
