Hi It continues to amaze me how someone with only 3 punches in their arsenal (Jab,right cross and left hook) can continue to be so dominant!! I can't recall ever seeing Klitschko throw an uppercut (because he grabs when up close) or a body shot! I continue to watch his fights in the faint hope that someone can land something of note on his chin...just to see the reaction! The only opponents I can envisage with any chance of causing an upset are those at least equal in height....Wilder,Fury. :?
He is quite strong and no one throws those punches with more power than he does. Wlad does better against taller fighters.
Wlad can throw to the body and he can throw uppercuts, watch his earlier fights, but thats what made he vulnerable, body shots and uppercuts for tall fighters (vs Shorter fighters) can leave themselves open for a counter over the top, that's why Stewart took it out of him. So he can throw more than jab right and a left hook, he chooses not to, as he doesn't need to.
Throwing other punches or going to the body would be one of the most idiotic things he could do vs the fighters he is up against. It gives up his height advantage. It would be like telling a short fighter he needs to work the outside against klitschko
I used to be a Klitschko critic, so I know how tough it can be. My advice is let it go man, he's the real deal.
I'll bet Leapai has a different opinion-he saw nothing coming and probably appreciates Wlad for not displaying the uppercut. He was close to getting clocked by one
You mad bro? What you don't want to see is that there is nobody, not a single heavyweight as big as him that is as active, as accurate and that thorws and lands the crazy amounts of punches he did last night. Against povetkin he looked aged, but that's just povetkin's ugly style of fighting him. Last night he looked in his 20s. He would have schooled both Wilder and Tyson Fury in the same night. That finish was mean.
When your opponent throws a total of 4 punches and more or less just stands in front of you during the entire fight, I suppose you'll look great with whatever you throw and will land at astronomical rates. I'm not taking it away from Wlad, but let's be real here. And based on the Lepai fight which you talk about, Wlad should have KO'd him in the first or second round, period! No damn excuses.
Well, he knocked Povetkin Down with an uppercut and hit Leapai with a good bodyshot in the 5th and final round yesterday. He may not throw those shots often, but that doesn't mean he can't if he needs to. But with a short guy like Leapai not really coming in there was no need for anything out of the ordinary.
Don't bring in boxing knowledge on people that think he should be fighting in the style of Joe Frazier.
