Goulamirian was a -760 favorite, and Bejenaru a 9/2 underdog. You wouldn't have thought so by how this is going...

Hell of an educated left, too; I love the way he double pump-fakes the lead and then feints a right jab before surging up with a solid left hand lead between Goulamirian's eyes, perfectly straight as if guided by a digital bubble-level. So pretty.

 

39-37 Bejenaru. We kind of already knew what Goulamirian was as soon as he popped up on the radar; he's sort of a WYSIWYG fighter...sturdy, heavy-handed, a pressure tank but with no frills...sort of basic when you get down to it, but seemed like he could be fairly effective versus even world class opposition. But man. Wasn't expecting him to get schooled and exposed (at least for the first third of this contest) by someone as unheralded as Bejenaru. Undefeated or no, the guy's 35 and has accomplished nothing in the pros to show for it aside from upsetting Mchunu.

 

Goulamirian got in a few hurtful rights in the 5th, snapping Bejenaru's head back like he did in the second - except in this frame, Bejenaru was able to recover far more quickly, and still outwork Goulamirian overall with his leap-up ambush combos and body shoeshines while ducking at the outer limits of Goulamirian's lazy-jabbing range.
