Arsen Goulamirian vs Ryad Merhy & Michel Soro vs John Vera Jr RBR

1st round: Merhy boxes well off the back foot and uses the jab and hook effectively to win the round quite clearly.

 

Merhy 2-0. Arsen wants to desperately close the distance but not having much luck.

Similar to first round but Arsen did do a bit better.

 

Round 2: Goulamarian has more success pressing the action and lands pretty well to the body. But Merhy's jabs and hooks land cleaner, and that's enough to shade the round for me. Really close round that could swing the other way, though,

Merhy still successfully jabbing and boxing off the back foot. He's started to tie up Arsen more too. After a low blow, Arsen has success towards the end of the round, but not enough for me to give it to him.

 

Round 3: Similar pattern, with Arsen pressing but Merhy more accurate.

 

Goulamarian grinding him down, he needs to keep the pressure coming

 

Goul takes the 4th, 3-1 Merhy
Merhy really needs to stay off the ropes. wtf is he thinking?

Arsen finally catches up to Merhy and pins him on the topes. Merhy not obviously hurt but he was definitely feeling it.

 

39-37 Merhy. Merhy had a good first minute, but Goulamarian landed his best punch, a swinging hook and then swarmed his foe, outworking him to take his first round.

Arsen is fighting like Gassiev which is not surprising, except his technique is poorer.

Ghoulamirian continues to pressure Merhy and he lands his best shots of the night. Merhy takes them but surely has to be careful not to take too much.

 

"close." rounds in France is definitely a factor to consider. Pretty much the sole reason I went with Goalamiran. Cheers for the RBR guys!

 

Goulamarian warming to the task, using more head movement and continuing to outwork his foe. Merhy is still getting there, but he loses a second round on the spin.
