Not really a fair reflection though, he hasn't fought below around 190 for years. **** knows how he used to make 147 with a 6'4" frame. That's insane.
How do you thing Jones looked Decebal ? I thought he looked good from the opening bell. Very nice variety of punches to try and open up Arslans guard...
I saw that fight yesterday. Arslan took a beating. He absorbed a terrible amount of punishment and had his nose broken and was badly cut in his mouth. It was just an amazing gap in the skill department between the two. Jones stayed close and worked his man over and over with uppercuts and short hooks to the body. While Arslan had no answers. I have a lot of respect for Arslan as he showed a lot of heart in there and never quit. Then there was the Gomez WBC elimination fight. He fought a russian guy named virchis. Never heard of him but Gomez now gets a title shot by beating nobody.
I have just seen the first 9 rounds and I can only give Arslan one round, round 6, I think. All the other, save round 4, were clearly dominated by Jones, especially the first 3. I agree with you 100%. Jones looked amazing from the first bell - such hight workrate, such good combinations, such variety of shots...I was really impressed! And he kept up the good work throughout. His chin is good too, but not as good as Arslan's, who showed great bravery in there too, I thought. Arlan never had a chance in there, I'm impressed he could take it for as long as he did. Shame, because Arslan's not a bad fighter... :thumbsup
Well, i have seen worse mandatories. Remember Gomez is a former CW champ and he beat an european heavyweight champ in Virchis who only lost a close MD vs. Ruslan Chagaev. Gomez beat him a lot more convincing than Chagaev, even floored him in the process.
Not the German one. He saw a clear domination of Jones...just 2 or 3 rounds for Arslan. The chart displayed was from a live internet voting on the ZDF website.
Which one had you never heard of? The guy who's been in the Ring Magazine's top 10 HW P4P for the past year and a half, or the former Cruiserweight title holder? Either of these opponents are a LOT more respectable than most of the mandatories the HWs have had over the past 5 years or so.
Ok, then maybe virchis deserves a little bit more respect. But I was just simply referring to the fact that he has not beaten anyone of notice so far.
Wow - in round 1 Arslan was a human punching bag. Unbelievable ****, this. He gets hit constantly and only delivers ONE punch that gets there that round. And its a harmless jab. Funny.
ive never seen a fight with more uppercuts thrown as a % of total punches thrown like every other punch was an uppercut right on arslan's jaw guy has a great chin but took a hellacious beating
