If there is one fighter in all of boxing who I think is going all the way to the top - its Makmudov. I shared a video of him to one of my bro's who trained at Kronk and he was extremely impressed with him.
It's good for him that he's now co promoted by Golden Boy.Maybe they will want to use him to pressure Hearn, and for that he should be placed soon in top 5.
Let's see, Mahkmudov is a 30 year old prospect who's biggest match was against a wagon with no wheels in Sam Peter. For a supposed "killer" they sure aren't looking for real game to hunt as opposed to the roaches they're rounding up...
He looks to have massive natural strength and bone density, and his technique is decent enough to transform that into real stopping power. He lacks that speed or explosiveness of some of the other guys, but he's got the type of two handed power that can break anyone down if they can't keep him off them. He's not likely someone who's going to pull one shot KOs out their ass after getting completely outboxed for rounds, but he could stop a lot of durable guys that can't handle the pressure he brings. I can see someone like Ortiz getting absolutely crushed by him in one sided fashion.
He doesn't have that tremendous one shot pop that Wilder has, he has that thudding crushing power like George Foreman had. He's much better technically than Wilder, but who ain't?
He's got attributes which are easy to promote with casual fans. No doubt it will be hard to get him fights against top opposition, but on the other hand, once he gets noticed by a wider audience a lot of people will want to watch him fight.
Who's talking about Wilder? There's no time to waste fighting scrubs as Mahkmudov's (not Wilder's) window of opportunity is very small and closing. Fortunately Golden Boy Promotions see's something and can hopefully maneuver his career down the right path.
He appears to have a lot of power, but lacks Wilder's speed. And he looks pretty rough for a 30 year old. I'm definitely watching him, but I doubt he's going to be a world champ. Especially as the Eastern Euros residing in Canada seem to always lack some ambition.
Another Russian SLOW hard puncher imo...nothing impressive...a more technical and the same powerful fighter like Wlad Klitschko would knock him out without risks... Fury and Joshua could easily handle. Wilder? I think Mahkmudov could drop Wilder of Fury 2...it wouldnt be surprising
