I wish they would have found a more meaningful opponent for Makhmudov. Wright is a small former cruiserweight and has been stopped multiple times. https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/584992
Absolutely pointless match. The only positive is Mak gets to score a terrifying KO in front of a large audience to get his name out there.
Smakici withdrew from the fight, the reason is probably that he had two fights in a short period of time, Wright is even lighter than Smakici and Makhmudov will flatten him. Wright's boxer shorts will turn brown at the weigh-in when he comes face to face with the far bigger and stronger Makhmudov...
I hope he doesn't become overzealous and look sloppy doing it. He has to show refinement in his game.
Makhmudov's opposition after Takam is AWFUL, plain and simple. Wallish was a decent European boxer few years ago, but nowdays he just throws the fights and quits. Akpejiori is NOT a boxer, he's a punching bag with zero boxing skills. And Wright... well, he was KO'd by Shumenov years ago. The same Shumenov who got schooled by 50 y.o. Bernard Hopkins.
