I still don't get it when Mak's critics say he's really slow. I'm not saying he's fast but for a 260lb brute of a man he's actually athletic if you watch his training vids and he has decent hand speed for someone of his gargantuan dimensions. He can explode deceptively quickly and put his shots together pretty quickly when he wants to and that was on display tonight too.

Potentially this is the first boxing champion with a tic.

Speaking of tics and the Vianello match I just reference, he was having a full blown Tourette's attack during it. He looked like he was going to start spinning his head in circles like Beetlejuice.

Damn, he looks young there. I like him, but he's getting old if he wants to make something happen. And I kind of like the head shake too -- it reminds me a bull shaking off the flies.

Anyway. Fun guy to watch, but he looks limited to me. Although I think you might be being a little overly critical if you're condemning him for bad performances that happened 5-10 years ago. What do I know though.

Three things confirmed from just watching 10-20 seconds of that.

Mak obviously has to really concentrate to keep his tick under control, has really worked on trying to do so, and it must be a real distraction and hindrance for him. He was actually doing it manically during the action there whereas it was confined to breaks in the action tonight when he didn't feel in danger albeit it happened immediately during those breaks which indicates it's a real struggle for him to control.

    2. He displayed decent hand speed when he hurt Vianello early with that huge right hand and the follow up shots.

    3. And I've known this for a while. Vianello has a good chin

I'm by no means writing him off, like you said, I just think he's limited. I think his power will carry him far, and he has improved, but I do think he'll suffer against the elite, effective movers and definitely someone who can take his power, with power of their own. We won't know definitively until he gets in the ring with somebody who can actually test him.

Makhmudov had a rough start in WSB (lost 3 of his first 4 fights) and it has to be said that Fa has regressed a lot since his amateur days.
This, if anything one could say that he is there to be hit. From his WSB fights we know that he's able to stay calm when under fire, that's a big plus.
With him and Zhan Kossobutskiy they have to take some risks and try to move them fast. Try to get a fight with Yoka, even if I doubt that they'd put him in with the guys who are probably the biggest punchers among the HW prospects. Otherwise the winner of Ajagba vs Sanchez would also be a good opponent.

Would love to see him fight Zhan Kossobutskiy. Both are huge punchers and while Makhmudov is much bigger, Zhan seems to be better boxer of the two

Teper looked like a 250lb slab of fatty Turkish kebab meat on a skewer and put up similar resistance.

Good. Now call out someone decent! No point in his fans bitching about him being a potential champ.

Fight someone like Breazeale, Helenius, Ajagba, Chisora, Dubois, Takam, you can't be calling out champs yet. Heck even call out Molina, at least he's a recognisable name! If Hrgovic can mount a claim to a mandatory off a win vs ****ing Molina, then you can!

You're 32 years old, make your move now before you lose your prime!
