I can compare him to Beterbiev in the context I did. I said he was like a 250-265lb version of him in terms of the heaviness of his hands not in terms of skill or level.

Glad to see the Mak man continuing to prove his doubters wrong.

I've said it before but it's this man, not Hrgovic, who's the real bogeyman of the HW division. Just hope he doesn't have the same issues getting half-decent opponents in the ring with him.

Mak's got skills. Look how well he frames opponents against the ropes with his lead hand. Also look at the way he varies his speed Joyce style to catch opponents out. He's not nearly as crude as a lot of people make him out to be.

So Mak knocked him out but looked somewhat vulnerable on points is the consensus? Wach is a tough man to stop. He was never down by anyone else. A career launching win.

Hughie Fury's victory over Wach was more impressive. Makhmudov isn't anything special and will lose when he steps up against a proper fighter.

He showed he can box a bit against Rice. That was actually his best win/performance. Here it just looked like he was trying to make a statement by taking out Wach. Hope he boxes - Jabs and cuts the ring off more again as he steps up in class.

I think it's all of the muscle. The guy was a surprisingly decent amateur - he beat Yoka among others, but yeah for a pro who comes from a solid amateur pedigree he looks and fights like a toughman in many instances. Very rarely in a bad fight though, have to give him that much.

Makhmudov is slow, hittable and throws wild punches.

I see him getting knocked out against anyone in the top 20.

Those 2 are actually good friends, Beterbiev is like an older brother to him.
Tbf, Wach came in over 14 pounds lighter than he did against Hughie Fury and 10 pounds heavier than against Whyte, he hasn't been this light since he beat Teper.

If you blew Beterbiev up 5-6 inches and added 70-80 lbs to his frame how would he look/fight? I think this fight shows that the skill comparison isn't too far off either. Beterbiev has more skill sure, but Makhmudov isn't the total oaf that a lot of people make him out to be.

That constant body jab in that fight was actually impressive.
I think shorter HWs need to have decent power and be able to get out of the way quick, because otherwise he'll just bulldoze them into a corner and destroy them with his rear uppercut, that's probably is most brutal punch.

Yeah I've seen that fight. Rice is very athletic, quick and light on his feet and an excellent mover for such a big man and that was a good win for and performance by Arslan. Has anyone else done that to Rice? As in taken him out that quickly? Nope

The murderous punching Ajagba couldn't get Rice out of there

    Nor could Yoka

Dempsey McKean stopped him in 10 but I heard it was a real struggle for him and Rice hurt him a few times and IIRC came close to stopping him

And obviously Rice is coming off back-to-back upset wins over prospect Michael Polite Coffie who is another savage punching giant of a man and if Arslan was as stiff, slow, unathletic, crude and completely devoid of skill as his critics dismiss him as and as bad as they say Rice has the right style and movement to exploit those flaws and beat him.

He looks like a younger cousin of the Klits who came into boxing late just to try his luck when they hung up.

This kid has tremendous power. He is a high risk for any top ten fighter. He is a bit crude but showed vs. Rice he can box a little also. That uppercut of his is deadly. Not sure about his defense. I'd like to see him take a step up in class.
