    Over at the scene

Wegner has called Arthur ''Arrogant'' and also claims he's blaming members of the camp for his defeat to Froch rather then accepting the defeat and moving onto work at hand. He says if he doesn't then he will walk away.

I personally don't like Wegner, the moment you call a fighter a coward then you lose my respect. He seems to show little compassion for his fighters when going gets tough. Many trainers would of pulled AA out when his jaw was in a absolute mess against Miranda.

Thoughts? I must admit i can see his anger towards AA on this but i think a change of trainer may help AA be more competitive against Ward.

He also trains Marco Huck who is also one dimensional, Arthur needs to get rid of him as well as taking a look at himself, he's clearly in denial

Totally agree. I think this seems beyond repair. There was signs they were starting to fall apart in lead up to Froch fight just comments from Wegner that made me think all's not well.

You could see that in the Dirrell fight, Abraham just wasnt listening to Wegner in his corner, whilst Wegner was just mindlessly shouting in his face which looking back must have wound him up and maybe even led to the illegal punch

Wegner didn't have any advice for Arthur other than "throw punches". No work on movement, on getting under the jab, using angles, setting traps. Poor really, whatever Arthur's own limits.

Usually when a fighter goes through a rough patch you get muppets saying he should change trainers. They might have a point this time though. He didn't adjust at all against Froch.

I think Wegner is a pretty decent boxing coach, even if he is slightly amateurish as a trainer. But he is a tough old school trainer and nothing wrong with that. Sure, he is tough on his guys, but boxing aint dancing, you need to be tough to compete. If he swans all over his fighter, it is worse for the fighter IMO.

My gripe with Wegner is he tends to produce fighters in the same mould, and with amateurish tendencies. They all seem to lack some of the basics, like parrying, counter-punching, jabbing and even feinting. But you can't fault his track record. In some respects you could call him a 'poor man's Cus D'mato'.

I don't know what to make of his 'spat' with Abraham. On the one hand, Abraham was uninterested in the fight, mentally shut down, and just looked to survive. He did not show heart or courage, really. I'm off the believe that a fighter should at least give it a go.
On the other hand, I like a trainer to back his fighter 100% to the media. What is the point of having the guy he trusts turn against him publicly? If Wegner wants to be angry at Abraham (and he should be), IMO he should do it privately and put on a united front for the press. For example, Freddie Brown was real disappointed in Duran after the rematch with Leonard, but he stood by him in the aftermath and never really said anything bad about him publicly.

i think a change could do him some good, he looked terrible against Froch.

Why does Wegner have the monopoly of every half decent German based fighter...?

I believe he's on contract with Sauerland, who sign most of those guys.

Of course it's not dancing but when a man risks a fighters well being (Miranda I) and in another fight starts calling his charge a coward yet really and truly it's mostly his fault for molding AA into a one dimensional fighter. AA didn't put in a cowardly performance against Froch did he?.....there's ways of doing things but he seems to not handle the fact maybe his fighters aren't as good as he thinks or wants and he must accept a large proportion of blame.

Abraham was beat from the first bell, he did not even try to turn it around.

Wegner is a one-dimensional coach, but he at least wants his guys to try, AA never, although him trying still would not ahve changed the result IMO.

I think a cowardly display would of been him chucking himself over from any onslaught Froch threw at him. Froch hurt him a few times and you could see AA was hurt but stayed on feet so ''Coward'' isn't a word i'd associate with AA. Yes he didn't seem to go for it and change matters but end of the day it's the fighters priority to go win fight. Part of being a coach is to motivate and i think he lost AA's respect as HarvinMagler said he was bollocking him against Dirrell. I must admit i think AA has childlike attitude to losing and being told off.

Aa was outclassed against froch. But he stuck in there and was a true warrior. His coach calling him a coward is unacceptable and unforgiveable. Aa is never going to be technically breathtaking, but he can punch and has heart. He needs someone who can bring these qualities back out in him. I would like to see what manny steward could do with him. I am sure he could hone his specific fighting style to negate an opponents attack, and make his own more effective against classier and more elusive opponents, because at the end of the day this is what aa has found sunce his step up, these kids are not going to stand against the ropes and let you hit them!
