He reminds me of Fullmer without the subtleties, stamina or proper schooling as I dont want to say talent just yet. Anyone else see this?

I would say Abraham seems to be a harder puncher than Gene Fullmer was. I don't think he has Fullmer's work- rate or stamina however. There certainly is fireworks whenever he steps into the ring and that makes for exciting fights. This past Saturday night's bout with Dirrell was a good one and it was a shame it ended the way that it did.

Only superficially is there a resemblance. Fullmer was by far the better fighter and a proven champion. The man FOUGHT..he made things happen, rather than adopt Arthur's well known style of doing nothing and counting on his opponent either having stamina or chin issues. Arthur, on his best day would hae never been able to beat the version of SRR , Fernandez or Basilio that Fullmer did, and his punch output would have been terribly insufficiennt to deter Dick Tiger.

The only similarity i see is their strength.

Fullmer was a much better fighter.

Both did have a wild, crude punching style, Abraham with his wide hooks, Fullmer with his overhand rights. Fullmer used the cross-arm, Abraham too goes into a shell.

Why the **** do people always make blatantly obvious complaints in these threads?

"He wasn't nearly as good as him!"

Same old **** in every thread that mentions similarities. between fighters.

Hardly. I come here to talk about boxing. When discussion, the entire foundation of this place is stunted and derailed it is irritating.

I used to spend a large chunk of my time here and the place has consistently gone downhill in the last few months. Even if I was wound up it would certainly be legitimate.

Fair enough, and you do have a point about the place going downhill.

Too many trolls and people just looking to push an agenda for their favourites. All the Duran crap recently has been pathetic.

Yeah, sorry if I came across as abrasive a few posts ago. Projecting a legitimate issue I have a bit too aggressively.

I'm pretty sick of hearing Barkley/Duran discussed, personally. Among the other 10 threads about him on the front page of a forum thats supposed to be ridiculously diverse.

Peek-a-boo vs cross arm defence...Coventional straight backed stand up style vs a more instincitve crouching approach..I see more differences to tell you the truth.
