According to Bild.de Abraham will face Stjepan Bozic in February in Germany in a ten rounder. Abraham fought twice last year and lost both fights without pressuring the opponents in a noteworthy manner (dunno if Dirrel agrees...). A third consecutive lopsided loss against Ward would kill his marketability as it would prove he's not world class at 168. So a build up fight is a good idea (Showtime approved this, right?) because there's no point in facing Ward without self confidence. AA's chances of beating him are freaking slim to begin with so at least AA should feel the need to show a respectable performance unlike his last two efforts.
i gues he take a few easier fights to get his confidence back and then will fight the biggest german fight possible against sturm... The result probably decides if he continues his career on top level
Good for him to get back into the action I hope he scores a convincing KO win, that would boost his confidence and make for a great ward vs abraham fight
To be fair 168 is a very hot division right now. (no specific order) - Ward - Froch - Bute - Kessler - Dirrell - Johnson - Bika - Miranda - Stieglitz - Brinkley - Andrade - Abraham Even gatekeepers like Miranda, Green, Andrade, Brinkley and especially Bika are dangerous (hell, Miranda broke AA's jaw) and can upset you and anyone if you approach the fight like Lennox did against Rahman I. The S6 participants + Bute have P4P potential so losing to them is no shame but it does show where AA is to be ranked. Pavlik gets killed by 50% of these guys.
Wegner says he can't make 160 anymore. Would you favor AA over Martinez or Williams? I wouldn't. He could make some cash fighting Sturm, Sylvester, Zbik and so on, though.
Sturm seems to be after names... fighting Hearns and calling it 'The Settlement' because Hagler was his idol. :rofl AA-Sturm in 2012 when he terminates this sad journey at 168! :happy He'll spark this Bozic dude with abrahammers, that's the aim here. Haven't seen those connect in a long time.
