"That was a boxing lesson for Kelly Pavlik," said IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham, commenting on previously unbeaten WBC/WBO champion Kelly Pavlik's unexpected loss in a non-title fight to 43-year-old former champ Bernard Hopkins over the weekend. I agree. If Pavlik would have won, he would fight Calzaghe and not Abraham. We should thank B-Hop. Also Pavlik has to get as fast as possible in the ring, if he starts thinking about the loss, he will start doubting himself and that´s bad for any fighter.
He is going to fight rubio first. He just needs a win under his belt before he goes in with Abraham. After that he wont doubt himself and he will find solace in the fact that bhop cought him at his worst.
Kelly's stock has fallen harder than the TSX, but I still think this is a toss-up fight. Wonder what the betting odds will look like??? Guess alot depends on how they both look in their next fights.
After the Hopkins fight Pavlik seems to be the underdog for this fight - at least according to this poll: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97279&highlight=abraham+poll
Now that Pavlik is gonna be staying at 160 this is the fight he needs to make. All the talk is just to build up an already good looking fight.
