Do you agree? Really, quite a few of the Super Six guys are too. Kessler and Taylor are extremely consistent, Froch is seeming that way too. But Arthur Abraham...man, if you rewind to ten fights ago, you will see the EXACT SAME PERSON, with the exact same technique, power, speed, everything. He has this single gameplan that he uses, and no one can get past it. It's not a knock on AA, in fact it's a compliment to his dedication and talent. But I just thought this was interesting...I don't think I've ever really seen him have an off-night.
Not really the SAME EXACT GUY... Abraham fights very smart, his punch selection and adaptability is what greatly overlooked. He doesn't just explodes from his shell... he explodes with the right punches, mixes up body and head, short and long, straight and wide punches. He often looks wild, yet a wild shot set up the perfect straight right vs. Taylor the moment AA saw the opening. He doesn't switch stances, isn't flashy and stuff like that... but technically and tactically very sound, he's a student of the game, analyses the opponent then unleashes hell. Well, in that category, he's very consistent. But he's not the same fighter. He developed the body punches in the last 3 fights for example, and he landed at about a stunning 80% flush on Taylor's body. He often finished fights with that strange left hook/left uppercut, but he developed a beautiful and deadly short right. He never looked like Roy Jones and never will, but still getting better and better, and his adaptability and skills shouldn't be overlooked. That's what people did with Vitali, and now he's (rightfully) regarded as hell for any ATG heavyweight.
OK ok AA is consistent and dedicated, congrats to him. Having said that, I still say that Bernard would make him look like a Damned fool! Known quantity lol... Known quantity for being not that good, pretty predictable to say the least.
