Let's not forget that AA was fighting a large part of the fight with a badly bleeding, impeding, cut above the eye, one probably caused by a clash of heads. I think I saw signs late on that he could stop Dirrell, though he was leaving/had left it a bit late/too late. I wouldn't say it a certain by any means, but I think I'd slightly fancy AA in a rematch.
IF AA could bring the pressurer earlier - in round 6 - then I could see a KO. As it was he could not figure out the matrix fast enough and was relying on a late KO - there were some signs that it would come but it seemed unlikely with only 1 1/2 rounds left.
I think I would slightly favor AA too. AA gave away the first 2 rounds and wasn't hurt at all during the KD. I'd like to see what would happen if he came out more aggressive from the start. Dirrell would need to stay more mobile in a rematch. He got over-confident in the 3rd and almost paid for it.
Perhaps we will see a rematch, you never know... Dirrel's performance was stellar and his style and physical attributes are all wrong for Arthur. However, if they meet again, it won't be easy for Dirrell to repeat what he did last night... Poor Froch, poor next opponent. AA will come back with full force.
They each finish the first three stages in first and fourth place or second and third place, therefore facing each other in the semifinals. Or, they both advance to the semifinals, win, and face off in the finals. Very likely that they will meet again.
Abraham has history of blowing rounds like he did against Dirrell. Watch his fights with Gevor, Ayala, Simon - and those guys are significantly less skilled and physically smaller than Dirrell. No real suprise Abraham looked bad in the fight. I think the early knock down mentally unraveled him too for awhile. He swung that final punch out of desperation/frustration the same way Roy Jones did with Griffin. Abraham's legit killer in the ring. If they meet again in the tournament I'll take him to jump on Dirrell early and finish it early. I feel sorry for Carl Froch. First Kessler's goining to take it out on Froch, then Abraham.
Abraham stops Froch and Dirrell get's a draw with Ward, while both Kessler and Ward winning their other fights. Eliminator: Abraham/Dirrell Ward/Kessler
Dirrell outworked him easily last night, and would have no doubt picked up a UD. In a rematch I'd expect Abraham to up his workrate. Maybe pressure Dirrell a lot earlier and try to wear him down. After last nights performance though, it looks as if Dirrell has Abraham's number...as long as he is not careless or over-confident.
