How would this fight go in Middleweight? Please state your reasons and arguments. There can only be 1 king of middleweight.
Golovkin hammers out a decision win against an overly tentative Abraham. Arthur comes out slowly and conservatively behind the guard, while Golovkin tries to split it apart with jabs and get around it with overhand rights for most of the first few rounds. Eventually, Golovkin switches tactics and starts to hammer at Arthur's sides to try and bring the guard down in the middle rounds, while Arthur starts to open up a little more, making for some fun middle round exchanges. Arthur starts to tire late, however, and Golovkin is then able to close strongly and get at Abraham's head more and more frequently to close out the fight strongly. 8-4 Golovkin, possibly wider, mainly by outworking Abraham, who would start the fight too slowly and be worn down by the end, but put up a good fight in the middle rounds.
My reason is that Arthur Abraham is less likely to get KOed than Golovkin is. Abraham even beat Edison Miranda with a broken jaw in their first fight. And Arthur Abraham punches harder, although Golovkin actually COULD put more power in his punches, due to more speed and precision. It would be an exciting match.
Oh, Arthur's fun to watch when he lets his hands go, and has a great chin/huge power at 160, but I favor Golovkin due to being taller/longer, being more technically refined with better combinations and punch placement, and being able to keep up a faster pace with his stalking pressure. Arthur had a habit of coming out the gate slowly, being unable to adjust, and having some stamina issues late (I think that's part of why he shelled up a lot and was so conservative in lots of fights.) Arthur to me is a lot like Clottey, only he has that devastating one punch power to end a fight even if he allows an opponent to build a lead on him. That's why he's won more and in general has been more successful, because Clottey never could change a fight with one punch to take it back if his conservatism allowed the other guy to build a lead. Could Arthur KO Golovkin? Maybe. I think there's a better chance he gets outworked and loses a UD due to not doing enough/hoping for a chance to land a huge bomb to bail him out.
Instead of watching GGG throw his shots..... Watch his feet when he's landing his murderous punches. He's so subtle his opponents can't tell if it's a feint, a feeler, an arm punch..... suddenly theyve been rocked and are covering for their lives. No version of ANY wieght Abraham survives a fight with GGG. To survive Golovkin, a fighter has to have great hand speed to beat him to the punch over the course of the fight, and he's got to possess and iron chin and extreme fitness to keep it up over 12 rds. Up to 175, only Froch and maybe, maybe Cleverly beat him.:deal
Golovkin is totally untested, and Abraham would provide a stern test. Who wins? I'd have to see the fight. You never know which Abraham you're going to get. Same goes for Golovkin. You don't know what you're going to get on the regular from Golovkin only because I just haven't seen enough of Golovkin.
Would be a Great fight I know it's in the past but Simon went 12 rounds with Abrahams in a real tough effort, then fought Golovkin and did not last 1 round and the first time Simon has ever been TKO'd,still a 50/50 contest I think and would love to see it.!!!!
I think Abraham would be too tentative after the felt GGG's power. Golovkin would walk him down working the body and piercing the guard with some well timed shots. Golovkin may have to absorve a few combinations here and there, but nothing to serious as he can roll with the punches nicely. Golovkin by decision in an entertaining fight.
Golovkin being smaller than the guys Abraham lost to, I Don't think that he could shut him out like Froch, Dirrell and Ward did. But I see him winning comfortably by jabbing away and keeping Abraham honest with his right hand..
