Abraham is too much of a stationary target. It would be a one sided demolition, AA would probably get brain damaged due to his very solid chin.

A stationary target with a turtle shell defense who willingly gives up his body against the best body punching middleweight since Mike McCallum.....yeah, I've got a pretty good idea of how that's going.

My thread seems to have been hijacked by Methheads. AA hasn't been KO'ed by better fighters than GGG and harder hitter.
GGG has never been in the ring with a fighter of even AA's caliber and his defense is even less effective than AA's.

AA wins a decision or gets a late KO.

Styles make fights. That's lesson one, pupil.

Hit the books. Start with the ones with pictures.

    This comes down to versatility.

I don't see Golovkin ever going life and death with - or suffering a broken jaw at the hands of - Edison Miranda. (and that was often cited, by Abraham's fans no less, as his exemplary performance that proved his championship mettle at MW)

First sensible post of the thread, except for the OP.

Abraham has definitely earned his stripes.
He has fought all of the best MWs and SMW of the era and has only lost to the best of them. In all those fights he has been down, but never out.

I think although Miranda lacks the precision and discipline of Golovkin, he definitely punches as hard.

This is a fight I would like to see.
I have nothing against Golovkin except in four years he still hasn't faced even someone at AA's level, and AA definitely isn't the best.
If GGG faced and defeated AA, it would be a better win than his last 4 opponents combined.

You can't really blame Golovkin for not having that great of a resume so far and not being around when the MW division was better. We know how hard he got ****ed being with Universum all that time. Look how quickly he's become the fighter he is in just barely two years with a competent promoter. Who knows where he would be at if he had been with K2 a couple years longer.

AA was a very powerful middleweight and even at supermiddleweight those guys had to respect his strength and power. But he tended to open up way too much and rarely throw shots down the pipe. He rarely if ever got backed up. In Maidana's case, he was an awkward brawler and became an awkward and deceptively very good boxer, but he's still in his prime. Abraham also could land very hard bodyshots, but on domestic fighters. Always tough as nails, but he always fell short in big fights. His defense similar, but not as good as Winky's. AA might still have some power, but landing it is another thing and its not just GGG's power he has to worry about, its the smart pressure, counterpunching, jabbing, timing, etc etc. A stoppage of Abraham is most likely.

And how could he have fought the best middleweights when Kelly Pavlik (and Sturm, though to be fair, I believe Sturm was the one avoiding that fight) is missing off his resume?

It's clearly a wind-up thread. GGG has defeated more actively rated 160 pounders than Abraham did; the notion that Arthur has a superior middleweight resume is simply flawed.

GGG doesn't have the best defense. His offense is his defense. he can be hit and is open for a variety of counters.

Styles make fights and I believe that AA has the style, power and chin to make a very competitive fight for Golovkin.

Light punching Geale was easily able to hit GGG with jabs and straight rights.
AA has a better jab than Geale and has more power.
    AA's defense and chin a 2x and 10x better than Geale's.
The only problem with AA is although he has aged and become a better boxer, he still needs a better trainer. Someone like Virgil Hunter would be a great help to AA in solving his offensive and stamina issues.
