Well, jsimps still says this will happen in 09. Short of hearing it from Kelly, this is probably as close to Kelly as we will get. Raphael probably talks more to the management people. So, both views may be correct, it is a matter of which one prevails.
It's a frustrating situation, especially when you consider the fact that KP and AA would probably square off next freaking week if it was up to them. As far as HBO, I think they have WAY to much power over match making, and consequently hurt boxing more than they help it.
I think i'll go with Abraham ... A few months ago I wouldve said Pavlik but i'm sure now that Abraham will win. He will use that high guard and once Pavlik shows an opening thats when Abraham explodes with non stop punching. I'm sure that Pavlik will back straight up and Abraham will come forward with a ton of punches non stop. Pavlik when he gets hit just backs straight up and when Abraham does his thing and he connects ... he's going to hurt Pavlik. It could go either way because they are both on the same level ... but when it comes to getting pushed back ... Pavlik is defenseless.
Yes it does. Sturm is acting as if he's the next DLH, acting as if he can pick who fights who & where. If AA doesnt fight Pav within his next 2 fights, he's going up & he's gonna target Taylor, or whoever the best 168 fighter is.
I think we can all agree to this being more a boxing political warfare than a real fight between men...
I question Pavliks balance ... he's very lanky and he doesn't have good lateral movement and he doesn't know how to side step or pivot. He's like a robot ... he just walks forward ... if he got a new trainer then I would say theres a chance but with that double jab/no adjustments isn't going to do it.
He is kinda like Cotto ... has good recovery power but couldn't take the constant punishment ... I know it'll be a different story back down at middleweight but i'm sure that Abraham will be more confident. Pavlik seems to have lost his confidence losing to Hopkins ... thinking that he was going to knock him out and losing at the end. Abraham is undefeated and knows it ... Pavlik can't say the same thing ... and no matter how it sounds that plays a factor in each fighters level of confidence.
I doubt his confidence is down as much as his anger is up. Pity poor Rubio. Powerful looping shots that will fall inches short if he is dumb enough to throw them.
I won't stink for AA if Arum/Sauerland can get him on the undercard against somebody that makes him look good. That is what Arum has claimed to want all along. One of the biggest problems would be who?
The following accident happened at the Sturm vs. Sylvester post-presser, confronting Sturm before the whole of German media in attendance: I told him (Sturm) this in a more gentle way and guess what - he told me what a piece of impudence I said into his face and that I have not the privilege to speak to him as if he's just a beltholder but a world champion (again, I was very gentle). This should tell the story
