Announcement impending. http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/abraham-opponent-to-be-announced-wednesday-308146 I got Abe by UD, wide by way of 2-3 KDs on Murray. Martin wins a couple of rounds, no more.
Able knocking murray down a few times? No chance. He's past his best and is a plodder, doesn't have footwork of ggg to labs dem bombs.
I guess this means the Abraham - Hopkins fight fell thru. Abraham is on a roll and full of confidence. I think this is the perfect opponent for him to showcase his new found, late boxing abilities his has been working on in the gym for the last couple years. Abraham TKO 10
Murray will want to score and win rounds at some point. For that to happen, he'll need to engage Abe. Abe fights with the same type of ear muffs Martin uses himself, so Murray will need to let his hands go more than he would the average guy. When he does, Abe's patented upperhook says hello.
I think Murray will go the distance and make it a good fight if the GGG fight didn't take too much from him. I agree that he might go down a couple of times.
Murray on pts. Abraham's form at 168 has been poor. Since losing to Ward in mid 2011, although granted he was actually holding his own until he gassed and was no worse than 2-2 after 4 rounds of action (and he did rock Ward down to his boots with jabs. I kid you not ), he hasn't only mostly been facing low level opposition and some outright scrubs, he's also struggled against many of them and been the beneficiary of a number or controversial decisions against them too. The best guy he's fought since the Super Six is Robert Steiglitz and even then he lost one of his series against him. And didn't many feel he was lucky to get his hand raised in one of the others? Steiglitz is very average too, IMO. Bute victims Librado Andrade and Berrio both paddled a better version of his ass, both winning via stoppage (although to be fair to him he does also hold a win against the later as well). Abraham's KO percentage has gone right down since moving up to 168. He's only stopped 4 opponents since late 2010, one of which was on a hand injury and against a journeyman who was giving him everything he could handle prior to them injurying their hand/wrist. One was against an Argentine cab driver. Another was against journeyman Mehdi Bouadla who he couldn't even drop, and the other was Steiglitz. Like I said, he's been fighting very low level comp for the vast majority of that time too. Murray did take an absolutely horrendous pounding against Golovkin though so you never know how much that has taken out of him.
I don't see any reason why Murray cannot win this, except for questionable scoring. Whilst Murray does have a similar style to Abraham, he's far busier, and has a better boxing brain. Murrays chin is well proven, and Abrahams power ain't all that at 168. Only thing boxing wise that lets Murray down, is power, but he is more than capable of roughing Abraham up, and outboxing him.
Abraham is past his prime, but still good enough to win a point decision about Murray. The Brit is tough and can take a lot but lacks firepower and is hardly able to outpoint Abraham as he lacks the quickness to do so. Sure,he may win some rounds, but I bet my house that Murray wont win that fight.
No way Abe leaves the comfort factor of a home game PLUS his monster contract with German tv.He scores a decision win over Murray rather comfortably. Hopkins doesn't hold any leverage in Germany so he is out.
