Yeah true. I thought Groves at one point was going to be lined up to fight Abraham but i guess it didn't happen for whatever reason.
Like Groved stopped Froch two times, didnt he? It wasnt AAs best performance, but still enough to get the descicion. Sauerland put Groves out of the way and I dont see Degale in a position for AA. He has his eyes clearly on the IBF belt..
AA is shot. I'm hoping after he beats Smith again (who isn't that great) he manages to get a shot for Callum Smith who I think would KO AA. I'm surprised every super-middleweight isn't gunning for AA's belt actually since it's easy pickings.
I didn't say Groves would stop Abraham but he would beat him soundly. I know Degale has his eyes on the IBF but a fight with Abraham would be much easier for him. A much more winnable fight. A world title is a world title at the end of the day.
Arthur is past his prime, after losing to Froch and Ward in that Super tournament, I thought he really would had a chance, but he failed to impress me. His matches against Steiglitz were OK and he won the match to Smith by 1 or 2 rounds in my view, but in Germany it's hard to get a decision over the champ. I think it will be replay off their first match, with the same result because Abraham will work harder this time and Smith isn't world class, but I think AA will still lose his belt this year against a better contender.
I had AA winning by 2 points I think this rematch should end around the 9 to 11 round mark , AA by stoppage
The judges' scorecards were ridicilous, but Abraham did legitimatelly win the first match. No way you could give Smith more than 5 rounds. This probably works for Sauerland though, since there is some public impression that fight could have went either way, but in reality Abraham will rematch a guy who doesn't deserve it. The best contender Abraham will fight this year will likely be either Sturm or Sturm-Stieglitz II winner.
Of the entire first half I only gave Smith the 2nd, but he then earned the 7th and 9th-12th with his body work, steady jabs, work rate, and blocking most of what Abraham threw - and the eighth, which I gave Abraham, was very close. (many gave it to Smith) http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=518352 Not many had Abraham up in the end.
:yep Most likely nobody will be watching this anyway, since it will be up against the Golovkin vs. Murray card in Monaco. (which also features Hughie Fury vs. Andriy Rudenko and Lee Haskins vs. Omar Lamiri to further divert British fans' attention from cheering Smith on a second time, as well as Budler vs. Silvestre at straw which is more appealing to diehards.
Smith did actually rock Abraham in the 9th, don't forget. Arthur's ship is rapidly sinking. The only question now is whether he's already taken on enough water for an inferior guy like Smith to capsize him. Big fat maybe.
So if Abraham loses, retirement? Or rubber match? What if a draw? ...and then what the heck does Smith do with the WBO title? He obviously can't defend against his brother. Does he vacate it to let Callum have a go? Defend it? Against whom? Sturm vs. Stieglitz II winner? :think
David Price vs. Irineu Beato Costa Junior as chief support. A fun heavyweight diversion, if not very meaningful. At least somebody either way is sure to get sparked out.
As chinny as Price, he still hits like a mofo, so Price by Parker like knocking poor Costa Junior out of his shoes KO.:yikes
I've got a hunch a reverse robbery may happen here, the judges may be swayed because of the previous robbery to give smith the close rounds think smith will be a touch more confident based on the latter part of the first fight, where he arguably won rounds 8-12, shame this fight may clash with GGG vs murray
