Big combo by Averlant, really going for it. He guns Gutknecht back into a corner and gets the crowd into it (especially the Frenchies). Hooking shots with both hands, forcing Gutknecht to lean back and cover up. Gutknecht is stepping out, tilting his head down, and jabbing. Gutknecht moves in to lean against Averlant and is caught with a left hook to the jaw. More activity by Averlant between the clinches. Gutknecht is holding like crazy. Pushing Averlant back. Soft uppercut by Gutknecht. Averlant leans down into him. Big exchange, and Gutknecht lands a stiff jab while Averlant tags him with a 1-2. Big right hands by Averlant chasing in. Gutknecht lands a counter right.

Gutknecht circles left, burning canvas. Averlant tries to jab in on him and gets grabbed. Gutknecht keeps moving, dancing completely away. Averlant blocks a brief ground-standing combo from Gutknecht. Lead rights from Gutknecht while dancing back. Gutknecht bounces off the ropes and lurches in to hold. Averlant throws a wide jab and falls in with a missed right hand, getting grabbed. Whipping rights by Averlant. Gutknecht dances back almost into a corner and then springs up into a jab that turns his head. They collide and there's a slip. Ref says "It's a boxing match, yes? Not wrestling? Okay..."

This round was sloppy as a **** sandwich. I almost want to give it 9-9
