I suppose. Most fans care about that stuff, I guess. I just assume that boxing politics are going to **** everything up, and ignore status and just focus on clear demonstrations of skill. As far as I'm concerned, Pavlik can clean out 160 (aside from AA), he still won't be a better fighter IMO until he wins head-to-head.
Exactly. Miranda ruined him. Abraham is a joke to boxing. He is fighting a guy who lost twice to David Banks. What kind of a bull**** title defense is that? Loser!
Abraham is not a joke..however I do agree he should be mustering up better opponents if he expects to be competitive at an elite level
he is pulling a Joe Calzaghe thats all....the way it works is this: take on a bunch of cans hold belt for years and then fight a few Hype jobs and mediocre oponents finally take a chance against a name thats past his best and retire an ATG. It works provided you get by the old timer and retire.
Why are you tearing down the guy that beat your boy in one of your boy's best performances? Seems counter-intuitive. :huh
I like Miranda too. He lost the decision. Fight could've, maybe should've been stopped earlier in his favor - but wasn't. Cumulatively, over the rounds, he lost. This is a very closed case. :good
i'll tell you this pantera2000. since the abraham-miranda fight, miranda has sought out the toughest fights. while abraham has been content milking million dollar paydays against overmatched opponents. i know who i have more respect for.
He started his Pro carrer in an accelerating fashion and fought some very good fighters on the way up to the title. However, lately his comptetition has been so much degraded that it absolutely overshadows his earlier acheivements. Shame.
You are correct except the part about the money. Abraham does not make close to $1,000,000 pay days for fighting these bums. He made around $275,000 to fight Miranda, before Sauerland takes his 50+%
I thought Miranda should have won that fight on stoppage. Anyway, Abraham is a fake champion regardless of whom he fights, because Pavlik is the man in the division and beat the guy who had the belts before getting stripped for no good reason. Abraham needs to be matched carefully. His tendency to coast is going to get him in trouble against a guy with good speed and defense. Of course, that's pretty much the case for every A fighter at 160 -- they're all very similar. The good news is that there are some explosive fights on the horizon.
abraham can crack, which could always bail him out in fights. but i agree that the guy has a tendency to be inactive, go in a shell and fight in spurts. that would cost him against a good mover or tough volume fighter.
