Even in Pavliks backyard I would not bet money on a Pavlik win. Definitely not vs. Abraham. One flush punch and you are gone.
Very foolish statement. Shows that you know nothing about boxing if you think Pavlik is only a power puncher.
Good post, llorca! Well spoken! Pavlik can bang, but so can Abraham. Apart from Miranda and Taylor Palik hasnt faced any known name.He is a great fighter, and I really like him,but Abraham has a proven track record with lots of well known names among his skalps.Okay, none of his skalps plays in Taylor's league.Nevertheless Abraham is pushover at all.He has genuine firepower, and unlike Pavlik he has never been down in the ring dust.Abraham vs Pavlik could really go either way.May the better man win!
I think Abraham takes Pavlik. Kelly's not a counter puncher; he likes to lead and throw big punches himself. Abraham, unlike both Taylor and Miranda, holds his gloves up. That in itself is enough to absorb and nullify much of Pavlik's attack. Kelly, meanwhile, would eat plenty of shots himself. We all know that his chin isn't granite and I suspect that it'd crack before Abraham's if it came down to a slugging match. Pavlik's certainly capable of winning as he has power, but I think he'd be unable to make it tell here before Abraham does.
Pavlik - Abraham is an interesting fight, and who knows, with Kelly's throwback attitude, it might actually happen. Where did this "Taylor is feather-fisted" nonsense start? Subtract the last six bouts against elite level competition from his record, and he's got an 81% KO percentage. If he was feather-fisted, do you think someone with as solid a chin as Hopkins would have spent 24 rounds focusing that intently on defense? No one KO's Winky, and no one KO's Ouma. Taylor's inability to KO Stinks was based on deficient technique, not a power deficit. Joppy survived (and absolutely stunk out the joint) for pretty much the same reasons. Pavlik's getting knocked down against Taylor isn't proof of a weak chin. It's proof that you don't make it easy on yourself if you stand directly in Jermain's wheelhouse. You beat him by moving, pot-shotting, and getting inside his long punches.
