I feel like there is a lot of record capping going on. i just know what i see is two inside fighters, one is 31 the other is 38, one hits harder but the other has better experience hits faster and maybe more precise (Beterbiev.) Im noT to focus on opponent rating, fighters improve and adjust their style to other fighters, how many good boxers have loss to average fighters and went on to win championships? Im not looking at just records, Beterbiev is hittable and can be knocked down, he isn't like floyd who is defensive and doesn't take abuse, he meets you at the center and absorbs punches which means he will eventually reach his peak end sooner.
Excellent points, I've been wondering when age will raise it's head against Beterbiev myself. Sooner or later age causes fighters to hesitate when pulling the trigger ,especially against a quicker fighter. I still think Beterbiev will probably win, but as a bet 5-1 is an excellent opportunity to make some cash in an upset, I'll consider it.

I think you mean record padding. I've followed both Smith and Yarde's careers and Yarde's CV is horrific. Smith has fought and beaten the far better opposition and it's not remotely close. And he is a very hard puncher indeed. That doesn't mean I don't think this isn't a risky fight for Beterbiev or that Yarde isn't a dangerous customer and can't win against an aged 38 year old Beterbiev. I think it is and styles make fights. But Yarde's level of opposition is some of the worst I've seen for a one time world title challenger, let alone a two time one.
Record capping is a gambling term, or wiki capping, when you don't rewatch footage but you go off a wikipedia page or boxrec and make a decision. Yarde fought guys with over 20+ fights and won. Cmon you think Yarde can't beat old man Hopkins? You think Yarde would have gone to a split decision with Jesse Hart? He has a padded record. It's quite obvious to anyone with eyes and ears that Yarde hits harder than Joe. Listen to the sound his punches make. I honestly don't get the appraisal that Joe SMith gets, his fighting style is ugly and very brawler like. Maybe if you did the same you'd be aware of the fact that Yarde resume is as padded as it gets and with the exception of a well past prime Kovalev he has not fought anyone above domestic level Lyndon Arthur is by far his best win and Arthur's record is very padded Yarde is 1-2 against Kovalev and Arthur What are his top 5 wins? I think Yarde, despite is abysmal level of opposition and super padded record, is talented and dangerous and I give him a better shot against this aged version of Beterbiev than most do. Because he's fast. Is a big puncher. Is a decent counter puncher. Is a very good finisher. And because he has home advantage and is a lot younger and fresher than Beterbiev with way less miles on the clock. He does certain things better than Smith and I expect him to, at least, have success against Beterbiev due to that, but Smith has a way better resume and as of now his power is proven against a much higher level of opposition than Yarde's is.

Joe Smith run is not something phenomenal. based on Yarde's last performance he is capable of beating all of them and i would argue he could beat Barrera. You seem to forget he gassed in the Kovylev fight because his coach said to blow all his cardio in one round, an experience fighter who once knocked down Andre Ward. How you're going to hold it against him for losing to a season vet with that experience? So many people here get hung up on star power and name recognition. None of these wins mean anything. If you think on Saturday Beterbiev is going to have a walk in the park, well you're going to be disappointed when you see him gushing blood and breathing heavy from body blows. he's in for a dog fight, and at 38 father time is going to take him out.
