Jesus wept. Try actually watching the fight it wasn't remotely close. The only people who thought Hart won or even had it close were Hart who was lying through his teeth and the corrupt as hell judge. But don't take my word for it Again, what are Yarde's top 5 wins? What on earth are you talking about we're talking about who they have fought or beaten not who Yarde could hypothetically beat? And he's already lost to the two best fighters he's fought even though one was well past his prime and the other is domestic level. Everyone else he's beaten was domestic level or garbage Alvarez, Vlasov, Fonfara, Hart and even that ancient B-Hop are all much better than anyone Yarde has beaten and the worst one would be his best win Why are you arguing against something I've never said? I never said it was going to be a walk in the park for Beterbiev. That's what the vast majority are saying not me. I've said numerous times that I think Yarde is talented, fast, powerful and a dangerous customer and I think he will cause this aged version of Beterbiev problems with his speed, accuracy and power and I don't rule out his chances of winning either. On paper Beterbiev should win but Yarde could just be in the right place at the right time (which Big ''I hope we got the timing right'' Frank is banking on and prides himself being very astute at doing) and the home advantage could help him raise his game ala Hatton against another aged Russian power punching destroyer who also looked good in his previous fight against Sharmba Mitchell My issue is with you saying you think Yarde is a much harder puncher than Smith - it's possible that he does hit harder albeit I don't think he does. But, as of now, he's proven it against bums and domestic levels whereas Smith has either badly hurt, dropped or stopped every world class opponent he's fought sans Beterbiev and he never really got a chance to test his power on Beterbiev because obviously the later got him out of their early. And even if Yarde does hit harder he sure as hell doesn't hit a lot harder than him. I think he's just quicker, more accurate and picks his shots better than Smith does and, yes, he hits very hard too and that all combines to make him a dangerous customer for Beterbiev Here's Yarde throwing the kitchen sink against a past prime Kovalev. He didn't even drop him The guy Smith KO'd knocking Kovalev out Here's Clenelo who is much smaller than Yarde knocking out Kovalev
George Foreman could not knockdown or wobble Ali but Joe Frazier could score a knockdown on Ali. Yet Joe got demolished by George easy and Ali beat George and koed him. Would you say Frazier hit harder than Foreman? Or does Ali hit harder than Joe because he could ko Foreman? Even tho Frazier was known as the ko puncher and Ali more of a boxer? Power is not the ability to ko someone, it's how much power do they deliver per blow. Certain fighters have the experience level to pace themselves correctly or the right coaches to guide them to win. I think Yarde koes Kovalev today. It's evident he's made a leap in improvement, he's not as hastefull and he picks his shots more carefully. There is nothing i can say about his record, I know what i see on tape is a fighter who could beat Joe Smith and Kovalev. I'm basing this on his skills in the year 2023 not 2019. Four years gap is a massive difference and you'll be mistaken to think these are the same two fighters. I didn't really wanna go too back and forth here as we are spinning in circles, i admitted earlier that I'm split or even 30-40% leaning on Yerde because i respect Beterbiev and acknowledge he can still pull it off.
I obviously know this. But the Kovalev fight is literally the only example of Yarde fighting at the world level we have as of now and he couldn't even drop a well past prime version of him whose chin and power were diminished by that point despite throwing everything bar the kitchen sink at him. Both Eleider and Clenelo dropped Kovalev heavily and stopped/KO'd him with a handful of shots. There are many examples of Smith demonstrating his power at the world level. Technically he's not the best and he's not as accurate and sneaky as Yarde but in terms of brute force he hits very hard indeed. Again, I'm not saying Yarde doesn't but even if he knocks Beterbiev out in couple of rounds on Saturday night, and anything can happen when you have two KO artists in a ring with each other, especially when one of them is much younger and fresher with a lot less miles on the clock and is athletically gifted with a speed advantage, I wouldn't agree he hits much harder if at all than Smith. Yarde lost to Lyndon Athur in December 2020 Team Yarde had previously turned down the Kovalev fight at least twice in the two years prior to facing him and they would only go near him when he was well past his best and was getting up there in age. Big Frank who, as said, considers himself very skilled at the art of picking fights at the right time for his boys ie. when the opponent is either on the slide and past their best or when he suspects they are but nobody has picked up on it yet. He prides himself on that and that's what he's banking on here Timestamped You've got that the wrong way round - if anyone is going to be ''pulling it off'' it will be Yarde as Beterbiev is a massive favourite. FTR, I think it's going to be exciting for as long as it lasts with plenty of heavy leather flying from both sides and even though I'm in the minority I do expect Yarde to make it very competitive and I won't be surprised to see either of them hurt or touch down. Beterbiev has fought a lot of big punchers whereas Yarde has only fought Kovalev and Arthur so it will be interesting to see how stout his chin really is because the version of Kovalev he fought wasn't close to the power punching destroyer he was in his prime. That version of Kovalev was transformed into more of a boxer by McGirt and he stopped throwing with full power like he used to. That won't be the case with Beterbiev so anyone who is approaching this from the angle of Beterbiev has been down before, Yarde is going to KO him needs to bear that in mind too and I've seen this a fair bit coming from those picking Yarde to win. I try to be fair and I see it from both sides.
When Beterbiev said "I try to be fast" I got a feeling that he might try and take Yarde out early if Yarde wants to make it a fire fight from the beginning. If he obliterates him in one round that would be one hell of a statement.
He’d already been busted up and hit a lot with bombs before this…that stiff jab was just the final straw. He did well in this fight, don’t forget he had Kovalev badly hurt on wobbly legs early and nearly stopped him.
@KO Artist Yarde was 28 and kovalev was 36 in that fight. Despite the youth advantage, he was dismantled by the old man. That's why Yarde does not and will never belong to elite league of fighters.
Never said he belonged to elite. But simplifying the fight with a comment like “he was KO’d by a jab” is silly.
