No fight for the vacant, he officially now The Last King Of Scotland....
Frank Warren said " I believe he will be a long-term world champion. I'm working hard at the moment to deliver a new date and challenger for Alex."
yeh yeh Frank a real challenge eh......

    Who the mandatory ?

Need someone who won't be able to get a visa.....Snoop Dogg?

Oh well, looks as if Arthur is going to at least attempt to get down to SFW for a couple of defences of the paper title. Putting him in with a live contender is unthinkable given those circumstances.

Whoever Arthur fights next NEEDS to be a credible opponent or he will just be labelled a paper champ.

That would be especially sad after Frank Warren had dedicated his entire career to ensuring none of his fighters ever got labelled as such.

Jeez I heard this news on the car radio. Nearly made me crash. I am glad we have gotten another world title holder but a shame he could not have actually fought for the belt. I can see Arthur being a champ like Enzo and fighting bums until he eventually has to meet a serious contender. The super feather division is packed with talent so Warren may not be able to protect him him for too long.

Any chances of AAA vs Mitchell pretty soon?

Is it? With Guzman, Pacquiao and Marquez all heading for LW, it's starting to look less than talent-packed.

Thats the idea of 'interim', if the 'proper' champ doesn't come back you are crowned without a fight.

Think they should still have to fight for the vacant Title rather than just being upgraded.

There are still some very good fighters at the weight and a few very good foriegn prospects.

At least a fight for the vacant would have saw him in with half credible opponent, without it he may just be challenging Joe's reign as longest World Champ in 10-15yrs time , long live FW lol

Warren's the main source of the WBO's sanction fees, it's hardly surprising they upgraded Arthur. Expect him to be called a paper champion until he fights someone rated, but now that he has the belt that seems unlikely.

Warren and the WBO have a right racket going between them but that has nothing at all to do with Arthur being upgraded. An interim championship is fought for (usually) when the real champion needs a long layoff or faces an uncertain future. If the real champion doesn't return to defend his crown then the interim champion is upgraded, he doesn't need to fight for a vacant title because its not vacant....hes already fought (and won) the vacant interim championship. Thats just how it works.
