    Arthur fighting to unify titles

Alex Arthur wants to fight Joan Guzman next

Interim WBO super-featherweight champion Alex Arthur says he wants to follow Joe Calzaghe's lead and unify his division as world champion.
Arthur, 29, said watching Calzaghe unify the super-middleweight division in Cardiff was "inspirational".
"It made me want to go out and do the same," the Scot added.
Arthur faces Stephen Foster Jr at Edinburgh's Meadowbank Stadium on 15 December - the first defence of his title since defeating Koba Gogoladze.
Arthur said he was ambitious and keen to take advantage of the buzz surrounding boxing at the moment.
"Winning the interim WBO title is just the start of things for me," he said.

I'd love to add the WBC, WBA and IBF title to my collection

    Alex Arthur

"I'd love to add the WBC, WBA and IBF titles to my collection - as well as the full WBO crown - and, with my promoter Frank Warren right behind me, I don't see why I can't achieve that."
Arthur said he would watch this weekend's WBO super-featherweight title fight between Joan Guzman and Humberto Soto.
"I'd love to fight Guzman next," said the Scot.
"He's one of the best fighters in the world. But, to be the best, you've got to beat the best, so I would've no qualms about facing him."
Arthur said Foster Jr was a quality fighter and stressed he would not underestimate him.
"He struggled to make featherweight and I believe he will be far more dangerous at super-featherweight," added the Scot.
"But I'm confident I'll have too much for him."

Frank Warren caught out telling whoppers of gargantuan proportions again... Warren stated that Guzman would never make the super-feather limit again, & Arthur would be handed his title. McGuigan backed Warren up, saying he seen Guzman & he was so heavy there wasnt a hope he could ever make super-feather again.

Oh, Guzman just made the weight again. Wht do we gain from this? That Warren lied. What a surprise.

Oh, & did I tell anyone I cant stand Guzman? Damn Frank Warren for giving me hope that he would just go away. Hopefully Soto will get rid of this hypejob. Im sick of Guzman. Oh, & Im sick of Warren too for telling Arthur if he won the interim title he would be handed the full belt in the near future, as Guzman couldnt make super-feather anymore.

The bull**** in boxing never ends, does it?

But hey, what do I know...

Guzman would casket Arthur. Burial or cremation?

    Reasons Robbi, or STFU;)

& thats not a personal dig, I have just been asking here for the last few days if anyone can tell me why & how Guzman would destroy Arthur, & the silence has been deafening. In fact, Im getting bored with people making brash statements about Guzmn v Arthur without backing them up.

Heres my take. When it comes to Guzman, most people from these shores know **** all about him, & just shoot from the lip.

Guzman is just in another class. There doesn't need to be any technical talk about it, really. It's like saying "Who'd win, Klitschko or Sprott". and then mentioning Klitschko's jab, Sprott's...whatever, and ultimately it's pointless because there is only one outcome.

Guzman would outbox Arthur for 10 rounds before stopping him with ease. The Scot just isn't good enough. I don't think he has anything which could cause Guzman too many problems.

I'vre never seen Guzman so can't comment, never been that high on AAA though. He always came across as a bit deluded, long before the Gomez fight. He'd say ridiculous things but the tongue stuck in the cheek was missing.

tell you what..here's the latest from Wicky 'mr cliche' 'Atton banter......

Hatton said: "You always exchange numbers but the last thing I expected was to get texts from David Beckham saying, 'how's your training going champ?' I'm like, Dad, look who's texting me - it's David Beckham.
"I have to pinch myself and I can't believe it's really him.
"People say well, if you beat Floyd Mayweather and become the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet, he might be saying the same about you. I can't get my head round that."
But Hatton believes they have more in common than might first appear.
"He was a really nice guy," Hatton said.
"To be in the public eye as much as he is and still be so humble shows a real class act."
Hatton, courting the press in an old Manchester City training T-shirt at his final press call, revealed: "I've never seen a man so groomed in all my life.
"He had only turned up to watch a football match and there wasn't a hair out of place or an eyebrow unplucked. I thought, I've never looked that smart in my whole life!"
"If I could beat Floyd Mayweather it would be the icing on the cake. When was the last time the fighter who is regarded as the best in the world wasn't an American?
"Now I've got this opportunity to be number one across all weight divisions and I've never been more confident. I've got the same buzz I had before the Kostya Tszyu fight when everybody wrote me off.

Guzman does everything god but nothing great and that includes a good punchand a good chin but Arthur is no easy fight. I would pick Guzman every time but something about this fight to me screams upset.

What do you mean one-sided beating???? Arthur is fighting Ex champ Stephen Foster Jr, it's 50/50. Although it was the WBU title. Okay it's one - sided then.

I know it will prob not ever happen but although Guzman is very impressive he is not outstanding in any apartment, just great everywhere. Arthur is a good European standard fighter who may have what it takes to make the step up against a lesser title framed man but for some reason I think Arthur has a great win in him somewhere down the line.
