My youngest son ( 18 ) can squat well over twice his boyyweight so for a boxer he is quite strong. Arthur, believe me is a lot stronger. I know that if Arthur hits you, you have been truly hit.

Congratulations Alex Arthur, he hs finally proved to the world that he deserves his nicknme of 'Amazing':happy

Im glad to see some of the usual suspects are hurting on this thread, & whingeing about how fat Guzman would put Alex in his place:lol:

I have been posting here for years now & have always explained that Alex is a slow starter, but gets stronger as a fight goes on. But the haters are in screaming for crumbs of comfort in that Alex didnt dominate from the first bell:patsch

I hope Guzman fights Arthur, cos Arthur wil do to him what Harrison should have done years ago, retire the big mouth.

Well done amazing Alex Arthur, & IMO hes one defining fight away from overtaking my all time hero Scott Harrison in the scottish boxing hall of fame, & thats BIG praise from me.

Scotty went off the rails just before he got his defining fight against the likes of Marquez, Barrera etc, now Alex Arthur is in the exact same position as Scotty, hes one big name away from being up there with Buchanan, Watt & Lynch...

    Spot on mate :good

The guy he was fighting was well dirty and a difficult guy to look world class against. I personally dont think that Arthur will beat the top guys in the division but for F**ks sake he is hardly getting any credit at all for his win, 2 nasty cuts pretty early yet in my opinion he showed he is a far better fighter than he was a few years back and i think he may surprise some people.

The only thing i really do worry about is the fact he is so open to left hooks, he needs to sort that asap before going against any real top contenders/champs etc

I never used to like the guy much and as a Scot always prefered Harrison but i have to say that he seems much more likeable and humble these days - I honestly think the loss to Gomez has taught him a lot and at the end of the day he has learned from it and moved on.

Too much emphasis is put on unbeaten records these days as many fighters have been beaten and come back better due to the experience of having a loss and knowing what you have to work on imo.

Most hall of famers have more than a couple of losses in their career and most have learned and improved from this.

Couldnt have said it better myself:good

Arthur has matured as a fighter AND a person, & its great to see. He has finally taken over Scott Harrison as the torch bearer for scottish boxing, & it was great to see Alex Arthur truly come of age last night.

Spot on Dunky. I do not see Guzman fighting Arthur s he knows Arthur would cabbage him. He is now on th fringe eof greatness, no more than you would expect from an ex Leith Vic lad.:smoke

Well said Dunky mate. I cant believe the stick Arthur is getting from this fight on the boards, fair enough, he started slow but after he got cut he had a difficult opponent in trouble for a good few rounds and at the end of the day he should be getting full credit for the win.

Put it this way if that was an English guy in there he would be getting praise non stop, and im not anti English for anyone who takes offence at this statement

Like i said in my last post on this thread i always liked Harrison a lot more than Arthur and have had some great nights at the braehead cheering him on - the McCullough fight was an absolute belter, the atmoshere with us and the Paddys made it a great night.

Ive benn a member of ESB Forums for a few years now and have always read your posts with interest as to be honest i thought you were a bit paranoid re: anti scottish bias but im now have to agree that you may have a point mate - Arthur done great tonight coming back from nasty cuts against a dirty fighter who was no bum and eventually giving him a beat down and yet all im seeing is that Arthur is average, ****, bum etc from a lot of posters who really should know better.

There is absolutely no chance of Arthur doing a Harrison imo as he seems like quite a smart guy and whilst i always prefered Scotty i just dont think he was intelligent enough to realise what he had and has now wasted what he could have done, whereas Arthur does come across as a lot smarter guy who wouldnt get messed up in the crap that Scotty has.

Thera is a little shop on leirh walk that appears to be devoted to the art of hydroponics. I do not know what the young ones grow via this method but the shop is called "Sunshine on leaf".

Enzo Macaroni gets praised and overhyped for defeating a totally shot fighter, whom he had reach and height on, but Arthur gets slammed for stopping a VERY tough fighter who is extremely hard to look good against, whom was coming down from competing at a higher weight?

    What a joke.

    Arthur is a class fighter.:good

To be perfectly honest i think the Guzman fight would be a real tough one for Alex as Guzman can fight and has a good dig on him.

I would reckon Arthur would a good outsider for this match, if it happens, i doubt Guzman will stay at the weight though.

    Exactly :good

Dont get me wrong, Braithwaite was Enzo's biggest fight to date but i would love to see the punch stats cause it looked like he barely threw a anything but enjoyed playing the fool with the rubber legs and sticking out his tongue - a little advice mate you win by at least throwing punches !!

Maybe im wrong as i was pretty pissed but i doint remember "bg Truck" doing much 2win

Good win for Enzo though, better than his last fight against the guy from bumfights :yep

Thanks for the honest post Exile my good man. I could go on about this subject for ages, but as I have made a few english friends on here I have forced myself to clam down with the 'inyourfaceness':D However, all along I have tried to wake people up to the fact us jocks arent classed as true UKers like the english & welsh. In other words, the vast majority of 'em want us beat!

I had to laugh to myself when I seen this thread, cos despite Scotty harrison & Alex Arthur being completely different styles of fighters with completely differing personalities, I seen the same old drivel being written about Arthurs win tonight as was written anytime Scotty won. "I wasnt impressed, he was being outboxed by a bum" blah blah. Its what happens in the main when scottish fighters fight sadly enough, & it gives me no pleasure whatsoever to be proven right. I would much rather the english & welsh loved us like they love each other, but it aint to be.

As for Scotty & Alex, isnt it strange how their careers have turned out? Scotty was the seriously single minded driven young man whilst Arthur was the big mouthed young star who thought too much of himself, but its went full circle. Harrison turned into the star who thought he was all that & got into trouble & lost his career, whilst Arthur knuckled down & became the man Harrison was in his young days, single minded, driven & determined...

Kinda spooky as they were so close at one point.
